Artifacts, Screen Tearing, Black Boxes, O My!

Fallout New Vegas is but 10 hours old and already the buggyness is ruining my experience. Immediately when the game booted up the first time my launcher crashed, I started it up again and it proceeded to detect my system hardware and set my game to "Ultra High". I then started the game up and made a new game, immediately after the game loaded past the loading screen it crashed back to the desktop again. I went through everything again and it ran this time, yay! Now I have no music or sound effects, so I hit the escape button, and the game crashes. I go through EVERYTHING again, and finish up with the doctor and leave his cabin, I can see large colorful blobs flickering on the screen black boxes flickering quickly over character and environment models and I can see texture stretching across the screen. Then I moved and it crashed again....

Recap :
Launcher Crashing
Game Crashing on load
Game not loading sound
Artifacts
Black Boxes
Screen Tearing
Texture Stretching

If anyone can help me with absolutely any of these problems I would be incredibly happy I really would love to be able to play this game. Included is my system specs and driver version and directx version and all that jazz. By the way this is the only game I have absolutely any issues with.

OS : Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
Processor : Intel® Core ™ i7 CPU k875 @ 2.93GHz (8 CPUs)
Memory : 8192MB RAM
DirectX Version : DirectX 11(July)
Videocard : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480
Videocard Driver Version 8.17.12.5896

If you guys need anymore information to dissect this issue, if I find out anything I will also update my post

Proably related to the iNumHWThreads command.

Add this line in the general settings of your INI file (if its not already there):

iNumHWThreads=2

See if this fixes it and let me know please. It's possible just like Fallout 3 the game doesn't like quad-core on some sytems, and the above command forces the game to run on 2 cores. It fixed launch crashes for me in Fallout 3 that sound exactly like you are having for New Vegas

To double check, I added that line into the Fallout_default.ini in my main root dir of my Fallout New Vegas directory. In the [General] portion of the text document

If that is where I was suppose to put it, I did not experience issues of crashing during that instance of gameplay but I still got the artifacts and graphical anomalies.

You can get rid of black boxes by disabling AA and Antisotropic in the in-game options, then force them on from the Nvidia control panel.

The artifacts and graphical anomalies are a different devil. Sorry, I only had the solution (I think) for the crash on loading screen issue. In regards to where it goes, in which ini file, I can't say for sure with New Vegas yet. I haven't gotten home to install mine yet, but from what I read in the forums here, it is an INI file for New Vegas located in some steam directory...If you editted it and the crashes stopped then I say you changed the right one :)

Thank you immensely for the quick feed back and the problem solving thus far guys, you are all heroes to me.

Recap :
Launcher Crashing
Game Crashing on load
Game not loading sound
Artifacts
Black Boxes
Screen Tearing
Texture Stretching

Just a few more issues with it, the most noticeable now are the big color blotches that flicker on my screen. Remember, this is the only game I have ever had this color blotching issue with so its not my video card going or fault RAM
