Artificially Levelling while running nGCD?

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 9:35 pm

I was wondering if there was a way (mod or in-game command) that I could start a character at a higher level (like, say, 20). I know there's the advancelevel command, but I'm under the impression using that with nGCD (which I use) would be a bad thing. I also saw some alternate start mods that incorperated different starting levels, but they all proved to cause problems (either with nGCD, RBP, or something else), and as such I still use Alternative Start - Arrive By Ship. Anyway, if it's possible to get a quick start like that while using nGCD, thanks for your help, and if not... well then I'll have to decide how much I want to keep nGCD in my LO :P

Because character level has nothing to do with health in nGCD, its only remaining purpose is to control the level of creatures and items spawned around you. Because of this, it's calculated as a derived attribute: raise your skills, and your level will rise automatically. (And in fact, if your skills get permanently lowered, your level will fall just like other attributes.)

I'm assuming you don't want to start at a high level with low skills and low attributes... if so, the settings can be tweaked to allow this, but I think you'd find minotaurs and xivilai rather daunting. ;)

Hah, yeah, I really just wanted to start with all of the cooler enemies already spawning, not to mention high level gear and such, but of course being underpowered in a highlev world would svck... so if I just set my stats higher I'll auto-level? Sounds like a plan, meh-heh-heh <_<

If you want all enemies at the start, how about Francesco's mod?

If you are using Wrye Bash you can just use Update NPC levels.

Edit.
About just the thread title, I dont know what artificial or not when playing with Oblivion mods, all is codes over codes. Now "natural" should be some thing that balance your gameplay.

Yeah, I run FCOM, but there are still a lot of leveled lists throughout the game as a whole, and I'd like to take everything to a later point in the game.

Forgot all about the update NPC level thing, haha, but I don't think that would effect loot? Hmm...

And yeah, I realize "Artificial" was an odd term, but I really meant in a cheat-like way; I either get sick of my characters or change builds too often to get to spend enough time in the meta-game, and wind up playing through levels 1-10 over and over and over again :P

I started a pure vanilla game with level 1 character; then before leaving the sewers I added others mods and overhauls (OOO, MMM, Cobl, Magicka Mods ... etc). When I was out of the sewers I jumped to a vanilla 44 level Stealth character using the same skills stats as the construction set (the constction set skills advancement by level are really low compared to what do most of the leveling known mods). Then I used Realistic Leveling Mod (using the faster leveling 70 option), my vanilla 44 level character become a RL 35 level character. Using Wrye Bash I updated my NPCs levels (this step is important). Now I'm playing for near two weeks and I'm getting most of the known leveled items from vanilla, OOO or armamentarium, Artifacts...
