He's undead insta-horse... what did you expect him to look like?

And the bonus is that while his speed is right in between Shadowmere and every other horse in the game, he can never ever die.

If he fades, just summon him again and you're good to go.

He is pretty much there for convenience... i do like that he disappears though because i get sick of Shadowmere jumping into combat and getting in my way

I wouldn't say Arvak svcks, I just find him disturbing. I wanted to ride him, but I find his appearance very disturbing. It's hard to ride him because of his skeleton legs and all of these....ick. I mean he's cool, but he isn't for me.

Maybe...you svck...

But in all seriousness, it's an undead horse that you can summon whenever you want and disappears when you no longer need it. It may not be nearly as powerful as Shadowmere, but the part I bolded makes up for that, I think.
