"Ascension" Tournament - 1200e in prizes!

"Ascension"
Crysis 2 Tournament

Introduction

Flawless Victory is bringing you, the Crysis 2 community, a great eSports gaming event. There have been very few successful ones in the history of Crysis 2, and the ones that have had that slight success have left us wanting for something more solid. One thing led to another and here we go, the "Ascension" tournament.

Time will tell how many teams show up. A 16-team tournament would be optimal, but if the 16-team number is reached more teams are still encouraged to join us.

We'll be playing an intense, competetive tournament of Capture the Relay with 4-man teams on the great "DLC" maps Blutaar666 worked hard to bring us a few months ago.

Download link here:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/75490576/c2reviveV2MapPack.zip

There will be a prize for 1st place, 2nd place, and a community voted prize for "Best Effort".

CURRENTLY TOTAL PRIZE MONEY: 1200 EURO

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, that's 1.2k.

Date, Time, and Place

Sign-ups close August 30th, at 23:59 GMT +0.

All the rounds have set dates and times, so keep that in mind when signing up. You won't be "agreeing" on when to play. You'll be signing up for a set event.

Every team must have one representative show up on the future tournament IRC chat-room 30 minutes before the first round of the day starts to confirm participation of the team in question and to perform a possible choice of map with the opposing team, or be forfeit.

All matches are held on official tournament servers brought to you by Flawless Victory.
The matches will be numerically assigned to specific servers. Participants have no control over which server or when a round begins, this will all be pre-determined. NOTE: All tournament servers are currently going to be located in the US

More!

This forum is where you'll find a more detailed list of the rules, where you'll be able to ask questions that will definitely be answered, and most importantly where you can sign your teams up!

Before signing up, please make sure that everyone on your team can make the assigned time. And don't tell me this is too much too fast, last time I played in a big tournament it was 128 teams 8v8 in one weekend.

You have one month to get good. Use it.

To everyone not sure about playing, ask yourselves this:
Do I like gaming? Do I like gaming with friends? Do I like organized and fair gaming events? Do I like money? Hmm.

We're accepting donations, and we're looking for admins. There are going to be a lot of servers and stuff to do when the shooting starts. A lot of it is going to happen on IRC. So if you have time, and know what youre doing on a chatroom and managing a C2 server, send me a PM here or on the fVic forums. Anyone can apply to be one, but you may be ignored. I won't respond to everyone.

I'll update and upgrade this post as time goes by.

Well, that's good news! I'm going to spread the word a bit.

By the way, have you thought about using the bug fixing mod War_Spirit has been talking about? (Sorry, I can't find the thread, there are some vids in his Facebook page).

Maybe I said something silly... Anyway, the point I was trying to make is that some kind of bug fixing mod would be nice for a tournament. Maybe a suitable mod just doesn't exist.

Maybe somebody should challenge him to make a mod for tournaments :) Anyway, playing a tournament with the game "as is" is OK.

The mod in question in no way improves competetive play like this, only creates less balance. Orbital lag and similar fixes don't apply since nothing like that is going to be used anyway. Now, if he'd make a mod that allows for good control tools for tournaments like !golive etc, then I'd praise it.

Nice, but you realize there won't be lasers allowed, and there will be some restrictions on number of "classes" per team (only 1 sniper per team, etc...)

Congratz fvic.I would just like to add server location should be more flexible.US only servers are unfair to many teams playing against an US side.

US has the best "pipelines" so people generally have good pings considering distance, even asian guys (in comparison with distance on EU servers).
But I agree, it should be more flexible. There is probably a good reason, but I still wonder why only US servers...
