Ash storms wont dissapear!

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:40 am

Just made the main quest yesterday! (Whey!) And Almsivi Interventioned myself outta that place without checking outside for the weather change.... Stupid me propably... Anyways, I went around did a little of this and that while waiting for the assassin to find me... Went to Molag Mar and POOF! Ash storms all around me! Dagoth, Vivec and all the others got me tricked!
I THINK I may be able to change the weather via Construction Set but it will be quite burdensome to put it on, then off. Then on, then off... Depending on what character are being played.

Now... I use some mods... Some add npcs, other change cities, some add quests, some changes them... Nothing changes the weather AFAIK tho... Any known bugs or known mods which does this? Any solutions? Anything?

It's only the Blight storms on Red Mountain that are removed at the endgame, not the normal ashstorms. I actually made a small plugin to reduce the chance of ashstorms after the main quest, but I haven't released it. If you want to get rid of the storms altogether, it's probably easiest to do it by opening the console and typing the following:

ModRegion "Ashlands Region" 20 35 10 35 0 0 0 0
ModRegion "Molag Mar Region" 5 15 45 35 0 0 0 0

This won't change the weather immediately if you're already in a storm; for that you'll need to use the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tes3Mod:ChangeWeather command.

I was wondering about that, and the Endgame script does actually remove ash storms from the red mountain region (along with blight). But it doesn't remove ash storms from other regions, and perhaps that's an oversight. Where would the ash come from if not Red Mountain? And if it is gone on Red Mountain, why not in other regions?

Helena: Ah, you wouldnt be interested in releasing that mod of your like rightaway? :P My console doesnt work... Dunno why, I suspect Vista tho.

Also, completely off-topic, but when will you continue your RP about Ada?

JM: So true... A slight oversight... Morrowind got some of those unfortuantely. Anyways, just for safety′s sake I made a little CS-change where I fix the weather everywhere so there is no more blight... Just for a last line of `defence′.

I'm afraid my mod won't help you if you've already beaten the game, as it works by altering the EndGame script.

I'm working on the sequel, but lately I've been devoting most of my spare time to http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1106876-early-wipz-house-redoran-expanded/ :)

Deinstalling your IR drivers is one workaround for this problem, I believe there are others too if you look in the sticky about vista problems :)

While it's true that ash storms will continue after the MW MQ is complete. If you AI out of there rather than walked back out and had the convo with Azura then the script to end Blight storms did not kick in. I'm not 100% sure on this so you might want to return to the Ghost Gate or anywhere that has/had the Ghost Fence. If the blue part of the fence is still up then you didn't trigger the end game script.

Red mountain has been spewing out ash for a long, long time, it's not going to just disapear when red mountain stops. The ashlands is basicly a desert made of ash, and any time the wind blows hard, you get an ashstorm, just like a sand storm in a regular desert.

Indeed.

I think the only things that stop after you beat the main quest are the blight storms, an ash storm where the sky turns somewhat red.

But then it seems like there'd be ash on Red Mountain too, but it gets stopped there.

The Endgame script removes both ash storms and blight storms from Red Mountain region.

Aw, seriously? I am already moving into Tribunal so its a bit too late now... Or... I got one save... But that is before I finished the main quest and perhaps even before I finished whooping up in some forts...
Anyways, I guess I will just use the "alter-the-weather-to-be-all-nice-n-cozy"-sorta mod I got in preparedness for this AFTER I have checked out Red Mountain and double-checked if the weather is still crap out there.

Tribunal isn't really dependent on completing MW MQ, so you could just go back inside Dagoth Urs place and walk back out. You should then have the convo with Azura and trigger the end game script. Rather than loading up an older save.

Oh... Thats a pretty smart solution. As soon as I got enough time with my character I will do that, thanks!

Da Mage: Ehm... He was a god, actually... But perhaps that was part of the joke? But you are right in that he cant control the wind taking up ash from the Mountain... But it shouldnt happen as frequently.
