Not with a decent amount of space, I never had issues in SWTOR for example. So you are wrong.

The amount of bag/bank space in ESO is prohibitive, worse than any game I've played, even f2p games. And we're paying a sub!

Wrong.

If they institute the Guild Wars 2 crafting material storage system (one centralized bank that holds only crafting materials, shared to your account like the regular bank, with one slot for each crafting mat, stack to 999), then there is:

  • Zero impact on non crafters
  • The dedicated crafting community will rejoice and thrive
  • No downside

It's not about hoarding. It's not about wanting more storage space for regular items. It's about dedicated crafters not being able to craft in ESO because the sheer number of different crafting materials vastly exceeds available space. This is across your entire account so it doesn't matter if you specialize in every crafting profession on one character or all 8. There. Is. Not. Enough. Room. For. Crafting. Mats.

The Guild Wars 2 crafting storage system, brilliant and hailed as the best solution by serious crafters, is the way to go. No impact on non crafters.

I had the same, but for me it was due to having my interwebsafety measures on (Ghostery, NoScript).

After whitelisting elderscrollsonline.com I can now get past the age gate.

I whitelisted everything and still got this, can't find anything else to whitelist (I use NoScript as well, and AdBlock Plus).

The weird thing is only that one link is sending me back to the agegate every time, can click on any other link on that site and read it no worries.

*edit* wait - I just clicked through to that link and didn't get sent to the agegate corner *cue Twilight Zone music* wonder wth was stopping me before, didn't change a thing between when I first whined about it and now

Pretty sure you could only do 1 or 2 crafts at a time in SWTOR.

Point remains you can't just run around and pick up everything and expect to have tons of space, you have to manage it.

Unlimited storage available in EvE. Only 'inventory issue' there is sorting through the piles in a timely manner.

Perhaps they plan to sell extended bag space through the cash-shop as well...

No in SWTOR you could do ALL crafts by using alts. And I had tons of space, what with being able to upgrade each of their cargo holds to max and them having separate cargo holds anyway. ESO is just crappy for space, it's like they've set the game up like a f2p game.

And I don't want to "manage it" if it means suffering unduly. I am going to be paying for this experience - this paying thing won't last too long if I feel too put out, which I pretty much already feel just from experiencing the terrible storage space during last beta weekend. Doubt I will be able to survive much over a month if they leave it as is, and it'll turn off a whole bunch of other normal people as well. Most people are not masochists.

I was checking the cookies, and I have one called age_gate. Maybe it finally registered you as having that cookie :)

That's what I'm starting to wonder...it really does feel as bad as the worst f2p game I've come across (as bad as Neverwinter, if not worse).

It cannot be "managed". There is not enough inventory room to support dedicated crafters. Forget about casual crafters and regular players--they'll fill their available spaces and "manage" their inventory as with any game.

Dedicated crafters are cooked (so to speak) under the existing system. It's about the raw math of the # of different crafting mats versus the primitive storage system currently in place.

Per character...

No most people will be fine. Most people IMO don't need to do every single craft at the same time and gather mats they may or may not use at some point in the future and pick up every single item they can.

Blasphemy! Blasphemy I say! No game is worse than Neverwinter.

On a positive note, ZOS has confirmed that the "cash shop" will only be for character services such as name changes, race changes and the like. No worries that it will become like......dare I say it.....Neverwinter .

People are still going to think ESO is stingy. Which they totally are. Look at how they're handling the pets (one per account, takes up bag space, have to deposit it in the bank to let another of our characters use it, MAJOR HASSLE), it's like we've gone back a decade in gaming. Who the hell is sailing this ship, must be some geriatric pain-lover, completely out of touch with modern gaming.

The dedicated crafters are going to straight up hate ESO. They WILL get a bad name from doing these things.

lol no the crafting system in ESO is far deeper than most other MMO's. Real crafters will appreciate how deep and complex the system is. They will figure out how to manage their inventory and appreciate the system.

Agreed. So many flawed systems in this game , inventory space, banks , lack of info regarding end game pve, annoying healing and targeting system, and confusion about account wide guilds and AVA. This is what happens when u dont have a lot of people testing the game pre launch and you dont take input from the community. I hope to god not a lot of quests are bugged at launch because the levelling experience is the biggest positive so far along with the soundtrack.

Most characters will probably specialize in only 1 or 2 crafts. But at the same time, most players also have a few alts which each have 1 or 2 crafts as well, to ensure that between all the alts all the crafting types are covered. Regardless which character/alt is being played at the time, they will grab every resource they run across to support all of their toons, not just the one they're currently running around with. This is typical in pretty much every MMO ever, and will continue to be so. The current inventory/bag space method does not support this well at all.

I'm not too concerned about the bank space (though the initial space could be better), since alts can mail ingredients to each other. But the speed at which bag space depletes before you even get to a quest objective, it's enough of a hassle that it'll turn off a significant portion of the playerbase.

[edit] I guess I was mistaken about being able to mail to your own toons. Since you can't, that just makes it even worse.

You're saying we will learn to enjoy the pain? No, we will slag the game off seeing as we're paying for a AAA mmo not a f2p mmo system.

They better change it, the storage system is unworkable.

Yeah that's probably it - they haven't tested the game with real MMO players yet, they only have a tiny group who probably say a lot of nice things just so they get to stay in the beta (and so who are wrecking the game for the rest of us upon release because their feedback is sycophantic and invalid).
