M'aiq has a couple questions...

  1. How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?
  2. Are mods able to warn an Admin? What if an Admin became evil and needed to be warned, who would be able to warn the Admin?

I think there are certain conditions that must be met first, one being that before being considered for Moderator, the user in question must have been a member atleast 1 year, i dont know any other conditions.

Ah i think one of them is to not have had any warnings for a certain period of time.

Edit: oh and i think it was mentioned in the last thread that first an offer comes via email, then one asking if you are 18 or older.

Actually, Shifty should have sent the "How old are you?" first, then the one about being a moderator.

Due to some of the content that mods might have to deal with, you have to be at least 18. There have been a few cases where people couldn't accept because of that.

Two questions:

Are there any particular users that stand out to individual mods, or mods as a whole? Like a bad user, or good user, or even just a very odd, intriguing user?

Also whats this i keep reading about a Black van, since i am new to the forum, technically, did i miss an inside Joke amungst the community

I originally had a more diplomatic "how can I possibly choose, they're all so great" answer in mind. But if I'm being honest... Mordin. He's the very model of a Scientist Solarian after all.

Obviously some people are going to stand out at various times for various reasons - pretty much any of the above listed. Of course we can't discuss any of that on the open forum.

I also know nothing of this black van. I certainly don't remember anything involving one, but with the blindfold it was hard to be sure. But then again my memory of the whole thing's a bit fuzzy, I can't remember a thing after the BEES!!! ahh nnoooo not the bees!!!

Rule one. Never ask about the black van. Least you're never heard from again. And yes it's an inside joke, I can't remember what it was though.

Now, has there ever been a time where you felt happy banning someone. Say a person posting inappropriate content or trolling/flaming etc.

No idea if this has been asked but:

Does having a warning strike automatically disqualify you from being a mod?

(Not that I want to be a mod or anything, I think that ship has sailed...)

Will Half-Life 3 ever be confirmed?

What's the meaning of life? (Please don't use Monty Python's Meaning of Life as an answer, but Spam or a Parrot will be an admissible answer in a court of Law)

Do any of you wear sunglasses at night?

When will the rest of the world learn that Football is played with helmets and the only kicking allowed involves Kickoffs, Punts, and Extra Points only? Bonus points question: Why is every Rugby player certifiably crazy, other than the obvious answer that they play Rugby?

Are we supposed to ask serious questions only? if so please ignore everything i have ever posted

A couple of new questions I've thought of:

What are your favorite hobbies, and how did you get into them?

Is there any particular format of the site and/or forums that you miss from the past, like from when you joined? Or do you like the current format of things better?

Edit:

A question I had forgotten to ask:

In terms of receiving free stuff, do you get the swag automatically or do you have to do some moderation of the forums in order to earn it?

M'aiq has a question...

In your opinion, would M'aiq make a perfect mod? :hubbahubba:

Is there a hierarchy among moderators, or are the newly appointed automatically given the same powers as the veterans?

And is there a sort of moderating quota?

1. We all have the same "powers" except for what the Admins do. With experience comes wisdom, but it really is a team effort.

2. Nope. We volunteer our time. We do what we can, when we can.

Yes. Over time we have had those who come here to troll and cause problems, I am more than happy to get rid of them or to see them banned by another moderator.

Not necessarily, it has happened in the past that we have had someone with a warning made up to moderator. It does, however, depend on what the warning was for and how that person is seen, not only by admin and moderators, but also by the general forum community.

We are always told that stuff is being sent to us and given a choice (T-shirt sizes, game platform, etc) but all the moderators are sent swag.

There was a definite lack of sympathy.

How fearful of the excellency of my judgement are the mods that causes them to prevent electing me to torture objectively overlord watch over users benevolently?

How many people have turned down being a moderator, if any at all?

Edit: Also i know avatars have to come from somewhere, are they custom, or just obscure images hard to find?

Those who ask to be a moderator almost always do not get chosen.

When we feel there is a need to increase the moderating team we discuss it amongst ourselves in a super secret sealed off room in the moderator basemant and draw up a short list of those members we feel would be suitable. It could be just a couple or it could be half a dozen, we then whittle down that list, they have to be acceptable to all the current mod team. It then is up to admin to agree and to contact them, if that member agrees to join us the black van is sent out before they change their mind.

So, in answer to your question, the majority are turned down although they didn't know they were even considered.

Would you know about Fallout 4 before it is announced? As to prepare the making of the dedicated forum for it?

Also when Fallout 4 does come around will another meeting of the mods take place to induct someone else?

A few, although I don't know how many, and some needed more persuation to join our team.

I got mine from the corpse of Arlow at the Ashamanu Camp on the Azura Coast of Vvardenfell. :D
That what you wanted to know?

We usually get notice before an announcement like that is made but are not always told what the news will be - just "Gather your forces".
More mods? The forums are pretty quiet and we have more than enough on the team, so ....maybe, .........possibly, .........I don't know.
