I was thinking today - Games like the Elder Scrolls have a wonderful wealth of "fictional fiction" - stories and story excerps littered throughout homes and libraries within their worlds. Imagine if they opened up submissions of stories to the public and allowed aspiring writers to get their name out there through their games! It would create a greater variety of content for people who enjoy reading and collecting those stories with little effort from the developers, and could help promote good writers who might be relatively unknown.
So!
Even though it might never happen, who wants to try their hand at writing a short story, or short story excerpt that would be suitable to appear in an Elder Scrolls game? Think you could write a new chapter to "The Lusty Argonian Maid"? Want to write a short treatise on the history of the countries, the Daedra or other lore? Even a diary of a Sheogorath worshipper!
Try and stick to around 300-500 words per submission - remember, you're writing an exerpt, so feel free to start in the middle of a story. Bonus points if you manage to make a two or three "book" submission!
