Assassin => alchemy or enchanting

Post » Tue Nov 29, 2011 1:26 am

I can't decide which would be the best option.

Alchemy seems to be the most obvious choice for a thief/assassin :

- alchemy is the most natural choice for a thief/assassin/hunter
- poison for daggers and arrows
- healing potions
- you can make a lot of money with alchemy. At least, that is what I've read. I'm now sure how?

On the other hand, I wonder how enchantment will work out. Has anyone experience with both?

Can I enchant daggers and bow and get same damage output as with poison? Does it work well
on armor? The lack of healing potions, might be a problem.

Any tips would be welcome.

If you're going for a traditional assassin, I'd roll for Alchemy for sure. Not only you can make awesome poisons and paralyzing poisons, but also potions to aid yourself with.

I am focusing on enchant right now more than alchemy. Loading up on skill bonuses; % increase to archery damage. You can do this with one-handed as well.

Definitely Alchemy so you don't have to rely on buying or finding poisons or health potions. Also it's super easy to find/steal ingredients, mix up a bunch of potions that you don't need, and sell them right from the get go. It's a bit tedious at first with trial and error, but you can level up fast and get good perks for potency. Enchanting is good too and can easily be combined with poison, i.e., an enchanted bow with poison arrows/enchanted poison dagger. You get the best of both worlds and can increase or customize the damage depending on your target.

TIP: Start early with both and keep track of enchantment/alchemy tables so you aren't scrambling to find one when you need it.

I do both. Potions for bow and daggers and enchant because there aren't enough good enchanted daggers around. Plus being able fo put two enchants on is gona rock pretty hard.

Some good tips .... I think I should also try both.
I'm now level 9 and still focusing on stealth and one-handed combat. Alchemy and enchanting are secondary skills, so I'm just gonna do it and later on decide in which skill tree I'll put some perks.
