assassin build

I want to make an assassin, he only uses blades, does use illusion and restoration, uses sneak and alchemy, but those last two will be minor skills.

What do you guys reckon?

Well, for a start you should drop Restoration, because Alchemy can make you health potions. Maybe you should also forget about him only using Blade, and have Marksman as well.

As for the last two, Athletics or Acrobatics maybe.

Good luck!

It's up to you I like it it's got a plan on how you wish to play, but others may not like it for themselves.

Oblivion has so many variations to style, role, skills, leveling are you looking for gameplay advice? or roleplay, guilds and build advice?
As each one requires a different answer for imo, and many different views to the answer given.

Skills; if your E - leveling the first three as your only use majors are good choices imo, just take other combat skills and magic skills that you don't want to use as filler picks.

Roleplay; Depending on how deep you want to play, limit yourself to these guilds DB maybe the TG, plus either MG or FG, otherwise just go with what feels right to your character.

Gameplay; If more a caster pick the mage or atronach BS, otherwise thief.
Illusion is your best friend use it and all other skills will just be along for the ride.
Restoration use absorb health in close combat to keep yourself topped up, and fortify strength and agility to make yourself more powerfull.

Other than these hints all I can suggest is just play and have fun, good luck too.

You might wanna throw Acrobatics and Security in.

If you want to substitute either for whatever reason, maybe Light Armor, since you'll only using blade and will come in contact with people up close pretty often..

I would've swapped Restoration for Marksman too though.

Any assassin should have light armor, athletics, security, and athletics. Marksmen is commonly used but since you want only blades then don't use this.

u may play as an effective infiltrator who attempts to cause chaos and disarray in particular guilds (for whatever reasons), instead of some psycho murderer. in this case, u may even join the blades, for example, as to render the imperial elite more vulnerable.

First off, Im pretty sure there's only one skill called athletics. :P

Anyway, I beg to differ on your statement.

Light Armor is near useless for an efficient assassin who kills from afar.

Athletics should be a minor skill no matter what, as it is used with every character. (Every character runs at some point. The benefit of athletics isn't good enough to lose a spot on the majors list.)

Security is also completely useless when you reach level 10, as at that point you can acquire the Skeleton Key. Up until that point, however, security is arguably an okay skill to have.

That's just my perspective though. :)

If you're on PC and don't want to worry about attribute bonuses and monitoring your level ups, get an attribute mod it makes the game much less of a hassle to play.

Meant to say acrobatics LOL. He says he only uses blades, so I say light armor because he does not use bows and has to get in close. Your gonna be detected sometime when sneaking so having light armor is useful. Security I can agree with its a useless skill, athletics is also useless I just say those because they are actual assassin abilities. Break in, kill, get out as fast as you can. Atlair from Assassin's Creed seems to be very athletic and acrobatic so thats why I include them since he is a assassin. Security should always be a minor skill I know but it is a assassin/theif skill.

Personally, I'd keep restoration in there as a major. It levels slowly. Very slowly.
The majors I like:

Blade
Marksman
Illusion
Restoration
Acrobatics
Mysticism (on a side note, all detect life effects stack. So it is possible to have a DL ring from a sigil stone, and cast all your DL spells, and be able to pinpoint the location of every NPC within about 350 feet of you. How can an assassin not like this? Shazam.)
And one other, maybe Armorer, to help with Endurance.

Acrobatics is pretty useful, yes.

I also said Light Armor should be used in the OP's case, but you wrote "Any assassin should have light armor...". I didn't agree with that, as a marksman assassin doesn't really need it as a major.

Athletics may be an essential skill for an assassin in general, but in TES the skill is rather useless. It's benefit is also no good, compared to having another skill which could potentially be more useful.

Athletics is very rarely good as a Major Skill. Same goes for Alchemy. It simply screws up the levelling.

Illusion
Restoration
Marksman
Blade
Sneak
Light Armor
Acrobatics / Alteration

That's my pick. Birthsign would be the Mage or the Thief.
