Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood!

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 1:32 am

Hey everyone! Is anyone else INCREDIBLY EXCITED that AC:Brotherhood comes out today for PC?!?!? What are all of you getting it doing today? I have school, and it unlocks on steam in 3 hours, so I'm coming home quickly at lunch to start the download, so right when I get back home after school, I can play it. What are you guys doing? :D Ahhh!

Ubisoft is on my no-buy list for their stupid DRM. And i haven't even started (used PS3 copy of) AC2. So

You know they have improved it. Now, instead of needing a constant internet connection, you only need it once to 'verify' the game. Just like with NV. It isn't ideal, but it's a HUGE improvement. Plus, I think AC is one of their best series, and worth getting.

I got it last week. Finished yesterday. Before release I didn't actually expect it to push the franchise forward, to improve on AC2, but it really does. Great game, best AC yet imho.

Ah good, that is acceptable. Still that series never really interested me. Unlike my sister :D

They've finally scaled the DRM back, for what it's worth. Brotherhood only requires internet access during the initial installation/start up now.

As nice as that is, though...I haven't finished AC2 yet (didn't buy it until the DRM was scaled back to something nearly approaching sanity), and besides, Crysis 2 comes out today. I have limited funds available, especially for release day / full price game purchases, so I could only buy one game. (Only really have time to play one anyway.) Crysis 2 won hands down. :P

I already beat AC: Brotherhood on the 360 but I'm an AC nerd and have all games for 360 and PC. And I love playing it on the PC, it looks better too. If you see a mad doctor running around in the multiplayer good chance it's me :P I always play as Malfatto.

I just met Leonardo again, ugh I can't get over what they did to his goattee. I know the beard is historically accurate but I thought the goattee was cute on him.

Aww, so you have a problem with a company protecting their products through requiring you to verify that you didn't steal it so they make the money they deserve instead of of people downloading games? I see. You obviously have no clue what it means to be an artist in any regard, and having your product stolen from you and spread for free on the internet so millions of dollars are lost in possible profit.

I was holding off on buying Brotherhood since it just sounded like more of AC2, but I've heard good things, might buy it for my 360 when my next student loan comes through

...The Draconian DRM used by companies like Ubisoft do absolutely NOTHING to curb piracy. A day after release, there will be a cracked version guaranteed. Those kinds of DRM only punish the honest people.

Anyways, on topic, I really enjoyed Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, really loved exploring Roma. I will not be buying it for PC, however, as I don't think I would really like the controls for it. Game seems too consolely, and I doubt it got a proper port (though who know, surprise me Ubisoft).

Looking forward to the next installment though :)

I have a problem with the game being constantly in contact of an internet server that's functioning, and thus my game's functioning is not in my hands. Reasonable DRM i have no problem with.

That just activating the game during install is an accpetable DRM for me, but i've little interest in the game. And that my sister is a fan of the series.

It's a better port than AC2 was, imho. The text and menus are scaled much better and they did away with the weird context icons. It minimizes brilliantly, works with the Steam overlay, performance is good and I've encountered only two bugs in my playthrough. Although it does tend to 'crash' when I quit for some reason.
