Assassin's Creed: Revelations

And, yeah, Ezio is getting kinda old. How long can a person expect to run around climbing buildings, jumping rooftop to rooftop without breaking a hip? Arthritis is gonna be a [censored] for him.

Oh, I've seen my karate teacher from sixteen years ago last month and got to chat with her. She's still kicking ass. Quite literally. At 61. I can't really imagine that Ezio would be less fit. ^_^

Hmm, yeah, I guess that's true. Didn't think about it that way. Still, I am kind of ready for a new era, though Constantinople sounds fun. At least we'll be out of Rome.

This feels kinda cheep. But I guess I'll buy it because I really like the story.

[Edit:] I just remembered that I stopped liking the story as much when it seemed to jump on this 2012 thing. I hope they change that into something more original.

...There really is a colossal difference between Renaissance Italy and revolutionary France, and not just in terms of 200+ years of time. I suspect the only reason Ubisoft seems to be leery of pushing the franchise forward through history is what happens to their "cloak and dagger" gameplay when guns and gunpowder become the norm, as they were by the time of the American and French revolutions. Just a conspiracy theory on my part, though.

They could make it like the Scarlet Pimpernel, only with Assassins. Here's something interesting, what if France was actually run by the Assassins and the French Revolution was a templar plot?

Ooh boy, I'm generally wary of games announced to be trilogies early on, because, by the third game (or in this trilogy's case, fourth), the developers discover the story they meant to tell died with the first game. Any finish that puts the game to rest is welcome, so we're left with a Return of the Jedi "Crap, I don't know what I'm doing without Frank Oz!" ending.

Constantinople is a great setting, though.

Ezio? Again?

Look, Ubisoft, I know he's the character that sold the franchise, and I love him too, but...I haven't even finished AC2 yet (let alone Brotherhood) and I'm ready for a new time period. I feel like we're wasting a lot of great opportunities to run amok through history here.

You know what would be amazing? An Assassin's Creed set during the French Revolution. Or the Napoleonic era. Or the Russian Revolution(s). And that's just what I can think of off the top of my head. Give me five minutes and I'll be back with more.

Sigh. AC2 is great, but I feel like they've just decided to settle into the Activision formula of milking the "guaranteed" cash cow until the udder turns funny colors and falls off. Instead of trying to push the franchise forward, they're just tacking more bloat onto what's already there.

Edit: Hasn't been five minutes yet, but an AC set during http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_the_great's rule of Russia would be awesome, too. Verrrry interesting time in history, at least for the implications it had for Russia as a world power.

...Yes, I'm a Russian history nerd. :P

I think this will try and finish the stories of Altair and Ezio and then it'll be Dessie all the way :)

But Desmond is so dull. Seriously, I might as well be playing as a washing machine, for all the personality he has. Also, that grey hoodie must really stink by now.

I think Desmond seems dull because he hasn't really been fleshed out. I actually liked controlling him in Brotherhood. I think he just needs a chance to come into his own. And yes, that hoodie has got to be pretty rank.

Yeah, and his new hoodie has a collar similar to the one on Ezio's robes.

Stupid.

They are just milking the franchise now. Haven't played Brotherhood, won't be playing this. Waiting for AC3.

WHY?! I just want the end to the entire Assassin's Creed trilogy... or at the very least more than one year of development to simply rehash what we've already seen with only minor tweaks to the gameplay and some new story. We had Assassin's Creed 2.5 and now we're getting... Assassin's Creed 2.75... a game made in one year... only one year... and with more multiplayer? What are they trying to do, make the Call of Duty of Renaissance Italy? I'm greatly ticked off by this, in case it isn't visible. Does the word "repetitive" mean anything negative to the modern gaming industry? One year is not enough to make a fresh experience, and the sales most certainly don't reflect notice of this, so they will keep doing it and dragging out of everything.

I'll wait a few years for a nostalgic AC Collectors Pack.

I've only parly played Assassin's Creed one, I had trouble learning to pickpocket. And my friend wanted his game back so I didn't get to far.

I thought we were going to move on from Ezio. Oh well. It'll be enjoyable.

Also, what is that coming out of the hidden blade bracer? Thats no blade.

Also, is it just me, or does Ezio jaw shape look different? ... broader?

I agree with you whole heartedly Seti.

As soon as I heard they were making Brotherhood, I just knew that AC was turning into a crap series. Shoulda just done AC 1, AC 2, and then end the trilogy with AC 3.

But no, they went and turned it into Halo and CoD.

Oh well. At least AC 1 and 2 were great games.

If you don't play these two I can guarantee that AC3s plot won't make a lick of sense. Brotherhood carried the story banner a decent bit forward, and I expect the same from Revelations.

Speaking of which, I still need to finish Brotherhood. My "good fortune" allowed my xbox to crash the day after I bought the game, and every time we try to get it repaired it works for a day or so, and then crashes again. I don't exactly have the money for a new one. Might just buy AC:B for the PC.

Maybe it's just me, but does Constantinople/Istanbul (in that picture) look as though it almost belongs in Italy... specifically Florence (excluding the Hagia Sophia, of course)? There really is only so much that can be done with a year and I have a very strong feeling this new game is going to reuse much of II's art designs (like Brotherhood), in addition to the gameplay. Maybe this was also just me, but something about Brotherhood felt... amateur-ish. The framerate seemed to drop here and there and a lot of the newer features seemed tacked on rather than smoothly designed and smoothly integrated into the series, if that makes any sense. The story also felt rushed and not quite as elegantly paced as II's, in my opinion. I would definitely prefer to just see the ending of the series' trilogy with 3, already, but I could have been fine with these spin-offs if they actually spent more time and effort making them instead of rehashing what they've already done. When I first got Assassin's Creed II (after having already played Assassin's Creed I), the art style, the characters, the general tone of the setting, and the gameplay all felt fresh and incredible. II made I seem mediocre in comparison and the setting was definitely a breath of fresh air, in my opinion. They spent time making all these new things and II was just an amazing game, in my opinion. Now Brotherhood and, most likely, this upcoming Revelations don't give me that sense. They don't feel like new games.

I disagree with all these points, except the pacing, the pacing never felt right It didn't feel like the game was in full stride until the last mission and that was far too late, Brotherhood has been the best AC installment though, without a doubt
