Assassin's Creed: Revelations

Post » Sat Sep 18, 2010 9:33 pm

Assassin's Creed: Revelations, to be released in November 2011 for PC, Xbox360 and PS3.

NOTE: Assassin's Creed: Revelations is NOT Assassin's Creed III, but the end of the Assassin's Creed II Trilogy! (ACII, AC:Brotherhood and AC:Revelations, the three games that feature Ezio) Ubisoft has confirmed that each Assassin's Creed followed by a number will feature a new era and ancestor.

Assassin's Creed: Revelation is the third and final chapter of Ezio's story, and will finally give us the answers to the questions raised by the cliffhangers and plotpoints in the previous games. Like Brotherhood over AC2, Revelations will improve and add to the gameplay.

Confirmed so far:
- The game takes place in Constantinople, which is split between four different districts: Constantine, Beyazid, Imperial and Galata. Players will also be visiting Cappadocia.
- Ezio is over 50 years old.
- Alta?r will make a comeback. Ezio will be on the lookout for a new set of seals. These seals hold Alta?r's memories and they allow Ezio to visit those memories similar to how Desmond uses the Animus. In these sequences Alta?r will be fully controllable, and we will find out just what it is that links these three men together (aside from genetic memories and being distant relatives of each other).
- He will be in possession of a new item called the hookblade which can be used to take ziplines across the city, and it speeds up his navigation by 30 percent. It can also be used to grab enemies and pull them in closer for a sweet combo attack.
- With experience comes knowledge, so in Revelation Ezio will be able to craft over 300 types of different bombs to use.
- Eagle vision has been changed to Eagle Sense: “Eagle sense let’s you focus on a character and see where he’s been,” said Ubisoft’s Alex Amancio. “You’ll get an approximation of where he will go. If you’re able to detect the path a guard will take, you can run ahead, set a bomb, and create a trap or an ambush.”
-The Borgia Towers concept has also been expanded to create a new system, called Assassin’s Dens. In the game, you will need to partake in and complete various assaults scenarios in order take down the Templars. Once an Assassin’s Den has been created, you can upgrade the buildings in the region and add ziplines across rooftops. Should one of your Dens get attacked, you can send in troops to stop the threat should you not be near enough to help thwart a Templar attack. In order to do this, visit the nearest Den under your control. If you assign a master assassin as the controller of a specific den, it will never be taken over.
- Guards can now be persuaded to become neutral over Assassins instead of hostile. However, the more notoriety you gain, the larger chance you have of losing control over the Dens.
- Side quests have been done away with and replaced with random events. Say for example, you are traveling through the city and see a shop owner being robbed you can help him out. Another example would be a little girl coming up and asking for your help. TES fans should like this.
- Desmond’s part in the game finds him back inside the Animus where he has found a safe mode called the ‘Black Room’. Remember that the Da Vinci DLC showed that Desmond was slipping into a coma after he
Spoiler
stabbed Lucy.

In this Black Room, you will be able to access Desmond’s lost memories, and the gameplay during these sequences has more of a narrative-fueled puzzle vibe: “Through the manipulation and creation of geometry with the game world, Desmond seeks to reintegrate the splintered layers of his subconscious.” Hopefully this means we will get to learn more about Desmond's own history. We know he comes from a farm and ran away from Assassin training.
- The game developers also utilized a new motion capture facial technology called Mocam which GI described as : “intriguing amalgamation of traditional animation, performance capture and the fascinating new style of performance on display in games like LA Noire.”
- Multiplayer will return and be expanded on, adding new characters, maps and modes, and the possibility to customize your own character's appearance and weapons, and create guilds.

There has been no mention of Leonardo yet. AC:B ended in 1507, Ezio was 48 by then. Leonardo died in 1519 so it's safe to presume he'll still be alive in Revelations. I hope.
I will keep this post updated.

I'll be buying it, mostly because I want to see how it all continues/ends and also possibly experience an updated version of the great multiplayer we had in brotherhood.

(I didn't see a thread on this, so I apologize if there already is one)

The trailer will most likely come out this Friday (tomorrow).

Revelations is the third and final chapter in Ezio's story, it will give us lots of answers, new weapons and fighting styles, a new multiplayer and it will let us play with Ezio, Desmond AND Alta?r again.

I nerdgasmed so hard when I saw this.

Your opinion?

I need to play brotherhood...

The multiplayer was indeed a lot of fun. I'm super excited we'll get to play with Alta?r again. I'm almost too scared to say it here, but Skyrim has competition for me now, seeing as both games come out this November. If AC:R comes out before November 11 it will get priority for me.

I need to play brotherhood...

Yes you should. You're missing out on some great gameplay and massive cliffhangers.

Because he is? Kinda. I don't want to know how many kids he has running around in Renaissance Italy.

I'm glad we'll be able to use Altair once more. He's always been my favorite AC protagonist out of the three.

Ezio? Again?

Look, Ubisoft, I know he's the character that sold the franchise, and I love him too, but...I haven't even finished AC2 yet (let alone Brotherhood) and I'm ready for a new time period. I feel like we're wasting a lot of great opportunities to run amok through history here.

You know what would be amazing? An Assassin's Creed set during the French Revolution. Or the Napoleonic era. Or the Russian Revolution(s). And that's just what I can think of off the top of my head. Give me five minutes and I'll be back with more.

Sigh. AC2 is great, but I feel like they've just decided to settle into the Activision formula of milking the "guaranteed" cash cow until the udder turns funny colors and falls off. Instead of trying to push the franchise forward, they're just tacking more bloat onto what's already there.

Edit: Hasn't been five minutes yet, but an AC set during http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_the_great's rule of Russia would be awesome, too. Verrrry interesting time in history, at least for the implications it had for Russia as a world power.

...Yes, I'm a Russian history nerd. :P

French Revolution probably won't happen. A few weeks ago there were some very convincing screenshots floating around on the internet about the new AC set in that era, but Ubisoft confirmed they were false and I think it'd be too similar to the Renaissance. Perhaps in Assassin's Creed 3 though. As for Russia, very unlikely because Ubisoft already has an official Ancestor set in Russia, (http://assassinscreed.wikia.com/wiki/Nikolai), who was the protagonist of an official comic book series. He already has a whole story so I don't thinkl they would convert that into a game.
Ubisoft has also already stated that they could do at least 10 more different Assassin's Creed games with a number as long as there is interest in them, and each number means a new Ancestor (which is why Revelations doesn't count as 'Assassin's Creed3').
I do hope that when they do make AC3, it won't be yet another ancestor of Demond. I'd rather have a new guy in the present as well.

They'd be milking it if they add Ezio into the game coming after Revelations, but for now I think it fits, seeing as this is Ezio's last chapter.

I like Ezio. Then again, I'm always positive about rogues in media.

And Istanbul and the Ottoman Empire this time, eh? I like this. Fits into this whole theme of bringing Occident and Orient, future and past, Desmond and his ancestors together in one narrative.

(But still, that one year distance from AC2 to Brotherhood did not make me quite happy in terms of possible gameplay improvements.)

As much as I love it, and I will get it, I'll probably buy it early 2012, the multiplayer will by then be very huge (if it has multiplayer at all :excl: )

I'll be getting this. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. I thought it was only meant as a trilogy? It sure will have a lot of games for a trilogy. And I will probably put money into every single one. :shakehead:

Yes it'll have multiplayer, an improved version of Brotherhood's multiplayer with extra characters, maps and modes. Already confirmed.

...There really is a colossal difference between Renaissance Italy and revolutionary France, and not just in terms of 200+ years of time. I suspect the only reason Ubisoft seems to be leery of pushing the franchise forward through history is what happens to their "cloak and dagger" gameplay when guns and gunpowder become the norm, as they were by the time of the American and French revolutions. Just a conspiracy theory on my part, though.

As for Russia, very unlikely because Ubisoft already has an official Ancestor set in Russia, (http://assassinscreed.wikia.com/wiki/Nikolai), who was the protagonist of an official comic book series. He already has a whole story so I don't thinkl they would convert that into a game.

 The Russian ideas were just suggestions off the top of my head. I could think of more, but Ubisoft probably already has ancestors based in those eras / continents, too. :P Didn't know about Nikolai, though; and I suppose the comics rule out a game set during the Russian Revolution. Still, just because Desmond has one known ancestor in a country doesn't rule out never, ever doing a game set in that country/region ever again.

In other words, an assassin running around with Peter the Great or Catherine the Great is still not out of the question. :P

They'd be milking it if they add Ezio into the game coming after Revelations, but for now I think it fits, seeing as this is Ezio's last chapter.

 Ezio looks like he's getting up there, years-wise, in Brotherhood. One more game is really pushing it for me, both in terms of believability and wanting another era to run around in. Ezio is a great character, but part of good writing is recognizing when it's time to move on for the sake of the story.

AC: Brotherhood and Revelations are basically just spin-off's.

Oh, I realize this. But they are still full AC games in their own right. I just mean there will be a lot of money spent to find out everything that happens in this "trilogy". At least there will be by me.

And, yeah, Ezio is getting kinda old. How long can a person expect to run around climbing buildings, jumping rooftop to rooftop without breaking a hip? Arthritis is gonna be a [censored] for him.

I admit I don't know a lot about the French Revolution because I have no interest in it. To me it just seems similar but that's just my ignorance on the matter. I'm sure Ubisoft could make it great though if they make a game set in that era, and I'll end up loving it and wanting to know more about it anyway. :P
If you're curious, this was the fake screenshot. Looks pretty convincing IMO: http://vghq.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Assassins-Creed-III-1.jpg

Nikolai isn't Desmond's ancestor, but Daniel Cross his ancestor (Abstergo's Subject 4). As far as I know, Desmond doesn't have a Russian ancestor. :P I'm not entirely sure but I think Daniel is one of the guys Shaun reports to.
