Assassin Guild

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 6:56 pm

I was at the Imperial Library. Ok nothing special just looking up some stuff, but I was reading about the history of the Dark Brotherhood and I found some info that was quite interesting.

"Dark Brotherhood also accepts vampires as a Dark Brother or Dark Sister. However, in 3E 421, some of the vampires within the guild, formed a group called the Crimson Scars and plan to end the rule of the non-vampire Black Hand. They will then put vampires as the members of the Black Hand. Their plan was thwarted; the members of the vampiric group were slaughtered in their sleep. The leader of the group, Greywyn, was managed to escape the massacre." - Imperial Library

So I'm thinking, what if this Greywyn guy is still alive and kicking and hes planning on getting revenge on the Dark Brotherhood for thwarting his plans? What if this is the rival Assassins Guild in Skyrim? Thoughts?

I'm in favor of anything that allows me to kill all the goth kids again. I had so much fun doing it in Oblivion. I'd join the Dark Brotherhood and run through all the quests just to get to the part where I was told to slaughter all of them. God how I hated the Dark Brotherhood.

The "goth" kids. The DB in Oblivion wasn't very gothic as far as I can tell

You would probably have to be a vampire in order to join. At least it would make being a vampire not so boring as in Oblivion. Being a vampire in Oblivion was so frickin boring.

Why do you call them goth kids? I've asked this before it's just stupid to me i thought they were bad ass all except for the crazy lady. And this is pretty morbid if that's what you meant by goth it's called the Dark brotherhood for a reason. Anyways i would be glad if there was an attack against the Dark brotherhood it would be a nice twist for a plot.

You just opened a can of live flamebait.
Also, no need to quote the OP when you're the first to respond, just lengthens the first page.

I bet he comes in as a guy you need to kill in a DB quest. I will gladly maul him!

Greywyn has long been dead. They released a hideout that he had built for the Crimson Scars, but before it was completed the Black hand had learned of his betrayal, and where to find him. At this same time Greywyn recieved a vision from Sithis that he was wrong in his betrayal, and was to cure his vampirism through purge salts found in his hideout. Unluckily for him, as soon as he relinquished his powers as a vampire, the black hand descended on him and ended his life :)

Sorry to break it to you but.... Greywyn Blenwyth was tracked down and murdered by the Black Hand. They killed him in his den, Deepscorn Hollow. Sound familiar? It's the Vile Lair DLC from Oblivion.

EDIT: NINJAED :ninja:

Listen to their dialogue. That's how pale little goth kids who sit in the corner of a coffee shop in a black turtleneck writing poetry about flooding rivers as a metaphor for cutting themselves talk. All that "Let the night mother wrap you in her cold loving embrace" and "the dark lord Sithis watches over us" and all that other nonsense. I found it to be incredibly cheesy and the whole concept behind the Oblivion version of the DB to be derived from the mind of a 13 year old who lacked either the chemical balance or the social skills to properly deal with puberty.

Quit with all the gothy nonsense and let me kill people because of the fact that there is a boatload of cash to be accrued from doing so, not because some statue tells some dude who comes back and tells me to and then we all giggle at the warmth we feel from The Night Mother giving us something mommy and daddy never did- a hug.

Muahaha

But on a serious note, I have certain reservations about the Dark Brotherhood. Don't get me wrong, it is by far the most fun guild to play through, I, however, am not in love with the "Dread Father" evil concept that leads the Brotherhood. I know it is not the lore for the elder scrolls series, but I'd prefer an assassins guild with more profit and political balance motivations as opposed to this semi-religious cult.

No no. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Rowley_Eardwulfis still alive. We only know of him as a surviving Scar. I was going to make a topic of this, but I am glad you did. As you know, vampires don't age. There's a good chance the Crimson Scars can rebuild themselves after 200 years. And remember, the Dark Brotherhood was in their weakened state in Cyrodiil after the Mathiew Ballemont problem with the death of the Black Hand. If only the Crimson Scars had a chance to wait, if they were patient, they would have the work done for them. But there is a single known member alive.

Vile lair. The last vampires turned back into human. The vile lair also has armor called crimison scar. Its a vampire shelter too.

Meh. I like it. If they won't make the DB that way, then they NEED to add a dark dread father cult for us types of people. And the DB is not evil. It's a point of view.

Whatever they choose to do, I'm with them as long as they do something.

Objectively speaking, the Dark Brotherhood quest line was easily the most poignantly well-written plot in the whole of Oblivion, and if there's no such thing like it in Skyrim it will be a great loss.

Of course, repetition is not good either.

With their new listener being the Champion of Cyrodiil, I doubt the Cyrodiilian chapter of the Brotherhood would have much trouble recovering.

I do see your point. Maybe someone in Skyrim said, "oh lets see if I can resurrect an old assassains guild and try to take out the DB." Sounds reasonable

I loved the Sithis and dark worship cult thing. The main reason I disliked how Oblivion portrayed is is because they seemed all emo-ish and CHILD-like. Maybe the Crimson Scars can return with the survivor; Rowly Eardwulf at the helm.

Is Rowly Eardwulf still a vampire? Because if he is, then he can can try to resurrect the Crimson Scars.
