When Count Hassildor came downstairs to talk with my character, Anda, after the Vampire Hunter quest, he was attacked by two of the castle guards, who shouted "you'll regret not paying that fine". After they killed him (i.e., he was unconscious) they went back to their posts. The Count, being Essential, then got up and everything went back to normal. Has anyone else encountered this bizarre event? I do not know why Hassildor suddenly became the Indira Gandhi of Tamriel (i.e., killed be his own guards).
