Assault Rifle

Why does the Assault Rifle look like the MG08 from WW1? Why not like a REAL Assault Rifle like in all other games and previous Fallout titles.

I would expect mods will fix anything like this.

I like it. It looks like it has been designed to use while in powerarmour, which makes a certain amount of sense.

They apparently decided they wanted a Lewis gun more than they wanted something that was an actual assault rifle.

I found the Automatic Combat Rifle (with bayonet) to be a better alternative than the assault rifle......looks better as well.

You know that Fallout takes place in parallel, not real world right? One that supposedly diverged from our universe in 60ties.

I wonder what happened to the M14-style rifle we saw in one of the cinematics...

The 10mm pistol at least looks sort of like a real handgun now... Apparently it can be modded to look pretty much identical to the FO:3/NV one though?

First people complain about the out of place assault rifles that look like they came out of a 1970 s news report....now people complain about an assault rifle that looks powerarmor punk.

I suspect people play video games to have something to complain about.

That used to be the case but now it looks like the world ended in 2077. idk whats going on. As such it is some futuristic assault rifle but a throwback. I wonder if 2077 why is everything 50's 60's ish. Maybe in 2077 people really liked the 50's style and it was in again.

I suspect the combat rifle is the closest ya get to a m 14

And yes, a 10mm pistol with any of the long barrel mods looks more or less identical to FO3/NV version.

The world has always ended in 2077, that's been the story since Fallout 1, but yeah the timeline did diverge and the happy 1950s never ended so to speak, so 1950s mindset and consumerism survived into the 2070s...which in turn leads to the resource shortage that starts of all the pre nuke conflicts.

There are different people out there believe it or not.

Just because you refer to them as "people" in both instances does not have any bearing on what they believe.

I dislike the fact that they seem to have no weapon continuity between FO3 FO :NV and FO4.

There are different guns out there but other than 1-3 weapons there are no overlaps. The military would use the same group of weapons.

These moddable guns are great but why the Hell does a sealed US prewar bunker have pipe pistols...

But there were proper assault rifles in the previous games.

That's a Hunting Rifle with long barrel, full stock and extended magazine.

Anyway, i too like it better than the Fallout 3 rifles. And the combat rifle looks nice too. And why in 3 was the "American" assault rifle a German H&K G3? :lmao:
And why was the combat shotgun a soviet SMG? :P
Though it too does look a lot better in 4.

Like i keep saying, graphical design is something they can do ^_^

The way the guns, APC and Tanks look in the game, i think BGS has said "screw you!" to real world aesthetic. I will borrow a screwdriver if that's the case.

Based on the screenshots I've seen (don't have the game yet, as my laptop just barely meets minimum specs) the combat rifle looks more like the FO3 combat shotgun?

In FO3 the Chinese Assault rifle is just called 'Assault Rifle' in the textures and meshes files, may have been intended to originally just have one type of Assault Rifle.

I don't quite get the big departure from FO3 though, it doesn't make sense... Some weapons look pretty much the same, such as the combat shotgun, the 10mm pistol (with mods), and the hunting rifle, whilst the SMG is suddenly a WW2 .45 Thompson and the Assault Rifle doesn't really look like a rifle at all...

No, it looks like FO4 combat shotgun, which in turn looks much better then the combat shotgun in FO3.

But yeah as far as M14 look alikes, the combat rifle is the closest you get, both looks wise and the fact it can be modded to chamber the .308 round.

I know the lore very well and i also know very well that the Assault Rifles in NV and 3 atleast looked like an assault rifle and not like a WW1 MG.

Unmodded, yes. Modding exponentially changes a guns appearance.

Hate to break it to you but we are more consumerist than ever, and overpopulated to boot. The resource wars are still coming

Haha that's what I use! With a marksman stock, but the wood looks better. Anyhow, I have a rough time keeping up with the ammo consumption.

That's why I stick with the non-auto variants and the Rifleman perk....

Well, the F3 R91 was actually based on the Spanish CETME series of rifles.
