Assumptions pre New Vegas release that turned out totally wr

Post » Fri Aug 06, 2010 8:25 pm

I can remember waiting on New Vegas - counting down daily from 420something days after i exhausted Fallout 3, 1&2. On this board we grabbed every new screenshot, interview and rumor and completely over anolysed them for weeks. So today i was just wondering the Vegas strip and suddenly zapped a little memory back to motion in my brain of all the crazy things myself and other members came up with pre-release.

* I remember myself and 80% of others seeing the Bighorner screenshot and thinking they were the new Yaoi Gui, everyone was frightened and also pumped to fight them...

* i can remember myself and a few other thinking the Chinese would be in charge of New Vegas, on the account of them starting the great war and Vegas surviving it unscratched

Theres just a few to get us started; i look forward to remenising with my cup of tea and Fallout game currently paused. :cookie:

I assumed that the majority, if not all, of the FO3 weapons would be in the game. With Josh touting "double the amount of weapons" I figured this would be the easy route to that. I was clearly wrong.

LOL YES!!! I was under the assumption Bethesda made it...and then when I was looking for somebody to blame I found out who actually made it...

besides that Ed-E=return of Enclave
Tabitha would play a major role
Combat style would be awesomely different
Cars (a lot of people were talking about cars)
hardcoe mode would be hard :flamethrower:

Definitely not really a bad thing that they made new ones instead of mostly old ones.

Probably the Strip size. Though a mod just came out that tended to that big time. Also, new hairstyles. That was a bit of a pain. Finally, the ability to become a member of the major factions, not realizing that 2281 NCR Rangers =/= 2242 NCR Rangers in that there are many and they are less of an autonomous force.

For some reason I thought it was a minor DLC. I'm glad I was totally wrong about that.

I assumed that this game would run better and be a better game then Fallout 3, I was sadly mistaken although New Vegas is still a pretty good game in it's own right but the Bugs have killed it. I mean we're in 2011 and that game still freezes, I thought technology would be getting better so that we don't have to deal with that type of crap but oh well.

That the stip would be way more impressive and have more to do in it (mafia style quests etc.)

That the Brotherhood would have a way smaller role.

That I would be able to enslave people for Cesar's Legion and generally do more for them. In other words, I thought they would have been treated equally in terms of content to the NCR.

That Mr. House would be a terrible character (glad I was wrong about that :D ).

I remember looking forward to the quest that lets us blow up the strip.
Remember the trailer?

I also thought ED-E would have a working radio & that he'd have more personality.
Remember that trailer?

I also assumed that since the publisher was so experienced with Gamebyro that the game would hum like a well tuned engine. Whoops.

Why would Quantum be in the game? it was released only in DC a couple hours before The Great War.

also I was expecting another Fallout 3, just in Vegas, so glad I was wrong.

you don't know that. fallout 3s nuka cola lore is messed up, about the nuka cola quantum being ONLY in DC test areas, lol-no. it had to been released in vegas, etc. major cities to test it. Fallout 3 nuka cola lore is [censored] gay. :verymad:
