ATI Radeon Mobility HD 3870 X2 (1 GB) support

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 8:11 am

The Alienware 17 inch laptop M17 model, uses this card and I know the minimum requirements are a 2 GB video card, but my processor speed and RAM is enough to meet requirements. Fallout 4 actually runs just fine, but the laucher doesn't detect my video card so is using the Microsoft D3D Renderer, which makes a game that already would run slow on lowest setings, be totally so slow you can't play. Anyway I have the latest driver and Windows 10, and I am requesting as a loyal Fallout fan, Bethesda please add support for this card in a future update, as I read Fallout 4 is built with the same engine as Skyrim, which plays flawlessly and detects my card at highest settings. I know I'm bottom of the barrel with an old 1 GB card, when min specs say 2 gig, but with VSync off and everything set to low at least I can then play this fantastic game that I spent 90 dollars on for game and season pass. :( Pretty please guys. :)

Yeah I found a new Win 10 driver for it, that actually runs Fallout 4. It's very slow though. I played Fallout 3 tonight just cause I was bored and noticed it was nearly as slow. So I rolled back the driver to the default Win 10 one. Now Fallout 3 runs great, but Fallout 4 says stoped working in Windows after you launch the exe from laucher.

A file called amd-catalyst-15.7.1-win10-64bit

This installer has a driver which is newer than the Windows 10 default one, but it runs both Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 incredibly slow. 8.970.100.9001 version, the one default to Windows 10 runs great, on everything else, but when you try to launch Fallout 4, it pops up with an error message in Windows with a blacked out window behind saying, "Fallout 4 has stopped working." :(

Multiple vidcards are not yet supported by AMD.
Expect a new driver package any day now!
It's a Radeon thing; not a Fallout4 (Bethesda) thing at the moment.
Pretty nice laptop.
Don't worry - things will get much better, probably pretty quickly...
