Atmora?

Post » Wed Oct 19, 2011 5:40 pm

I don't know much about it, but there is a continent above Skyrim called Atmora. I've been wondering whether it could be a DLC pack. The dissapointing fact that there will not be werewolves in skyrim, may not be for long! I'm not sure, but have they ever confirmed where the werewolves came from? They could confirm Atmora to be that place, and there could be multiple werewolf quests there. I would be pumped if you could go there in the next DLC. How about you???

That's like saying it may take place in Akavir.

It would be nice DLC, but we probably wouldn't get the whole continent.

They didn't actually come from anywhere. Hircine created Lycanthropy (the disease which turns people into werewolves) for reasons I don't recall.

Has it been confirmed how large Atmora is? Would if its puny compared to Tamriel? If it was only a fraction of it, I wouldn't mind though. It would still be cool to leave Tamriel, and go somewhere totally different.. I enjoyed the alien feel of the realm of oblivion. Maybe Atmora could re-create that feel.

all we know is it is north of temriel, past the sea of ghosts. and it probly wont be able to recreat the feel from sheogorath's mad house (or dagon's deadlands if that what you meant), it would be more of the same (snow snow snow snow snow, oh look! more snow) i think

Atmora is pretty much completely frozen over and uninhabited. The decreasing temperature and viability of the land is the main reason the Nords left the place to retake Skyrim. I'm not sure a frozen, desolate uninhabited wasteland would make the best DLC, unless it was somehow set in the past from before the Nords left.

Oh, I do remember the Hircine stuff now, it slipped my mind. That doesn't mean that there couldn't be a lot of them in atmora, though... I know that it is cold and isolated, but maybe they would be trying to colonize it. I dont know if this doesnt comply with the lore in any way, but it would be cool though.

Given that the Nords were supposed to have abandoned Atmora due it becoming cold and uninhabitable I don't think any DLC of Atmora would have to be very large. Rather like modern Greenland a couple of small settlements with a large (but not endless)wasteland as a backdrop.

nords left because it was too cold for them. these are the same guys who would go naked in a snow storm in skyrim so they could take a cold dip in a freezing lake, if its too cold for them no other race could survive there

They could make it unconventional. It could be different in the repect that a lot of settlement and cities are underground. Another idea could be that part of it IS a flat wasteland, and maybe you cant stay in that area for too long, cuz storms roll through, and you'll die if you don't find shelter in a dungeon or fortress. This is why I said it might be unconventional for an Elder Scrolls game, but it could be some new interesting gameplay for us all.

Well the Norse survived in Greenland for 500-600years. That they died out and the Inuit survived seems to have been the difference between an agricultural and a hunting orienteered culture.

yes but atmora is one of the hrashest envroments in nirn (i think), partly because its freezing. the nords left because it was too cold. my point being that nords are, by lore, natraly reisistant to the cold, if they had to leave i doubt another race (which means the playr character, since someone will make a character of every race eventually) could survive there
