Atmora

Post » Sat Jun 19, 2010 12:47 am

I went to the Imperial Library and found next to nothing in juicy details. It's the homeland of the Nords. Big deal.

What of it in modern times? Who else lives there? Do they have relations with Tamirel? Do you guys know anything about the northern continent?

Probably no one.

Atmora's climate was crazy and getting crazier. Nothing could survive in that, but that's just my opinion.

Maybe we would know something if someone wrote a story line for it. This would be a good one for the fan fiction guys.
I bet we would be amazed at how many people had a part in the story/lore of TES.

i thought that was aldmeris, atmora is the lands of early man, which even in the earliest of passed on oral tradition, has been a harsh ice-age land. the men were skilled hunter gatherers, and had no concept of agriculture, and were nomadic during the short warming season. it was hinted that the creatures there were especially fierce.

the land has since descended into a glacial wasteland, perhaps by magic, perhaps by fate. the last few expeditions there didn't last long nor found anything substancial.

Altmora- Heart of the World Creation Myth, IIRC

By the time elves lived there, Aldmeris was already sundered.

It ain't there anymore. Notice how in the beginning there were just Aldmer, and now you have Bosmer, Falmer, Orsimer, Dunmer and a dozen others? They diverged culturally nd racially, and that's when Aldmeris was sundered. Because it never was a physical homeland, it was a communal dream that the elven race had, memories of the nonlinear time of the Dawn Era.

So it's were man was formed? All of the men were formed in Altmora, which all of the information about it has been lost to time? Forgotten since the First Era?

No. The Imperials were formed from another occurrence.

I hate to say I know jack crap about the Bretons' creation. I shall get back to you on that.

edit: Excluding the Imperials, Man originated there, yes. For the Bretons, Nedes started messin' around with Aldmer.

From http://www.imperial-library.info/pge3/highrock.shtml, it makes it seem like Nedes mixed with Aldmer, i.e. before the whole Aldmeris schism that formed the Merish nations.

Wait just one Vivec damned moment! (sorry, I couldn't help myself)

I looked at the lore FAQ and got this on Atmora: Atmora - harsh and frozen homeland of Atmoran humans, the persisting ancestors of both Nords and Cyrodiils. This land lies to the north of Tamriel.

So men still live there?

Most likely not. Atmora began to freeze over to the point where not even the Nead's (Atmoran Humans) could surrvive, so they began a mass migration south, which landed them in Tamriel. Now its possible that there are still men who live their, but it in all likely hood, not. The last boat load of refugee's came to Tamriel in _______ (don't remember the date) and their hasn't been any contact with Atmora since, if their is in fact anyone left on the continent.

afaik, the aldmeri schism ocured long before. the schism means that the once unified elven population split apart and migrated forming new cultures/races (Chimer, Bosmer, etc.). the fact that clan Direnni was in High Rock instead of Summerset means that the schism has already happened.

Nedes ain't from Atmora folks; they're indigenous just like the Kothringi. Bretons have more Nedic than Nordic blood in them, and Imperials are a more even mix, though Colovia tends towards Nord and Nibenay vice-versa.

I always thought the Nedes we're Atmora, or the same as Atmoran's. Guess I learned something, heh.

Indigenous as in the sense they've traveled to Tamriel since the Dawn, like how human populations became indigenous in their respective homelands after thousands of years of acclimation.

Human life began in Tamriel, like the rest of mortal life according to Nu-Hatta. They were spread out across Nirn, later, as stated in the Anuad.

Well, as Mariel has stated, and if we believe Nu Hatta, ALL life technically began on Tamriel. All are indigenous to Tamriel
