Atmorans vs. Snow Elves

Post » Fri Feb 14, 2014 8:39 am

I recently had a very nice debate on this with The Mad-God, and I thought it would be interesting to see what the rest of the forum thought. Personally, I see the cause of both sides, so I couldn't decide, but I loved how it united Atmora (which at the time was torn in civil war) and brought the fighting Atmorans together.

Anyway, your thoughts?

I was leaning more towards them, but I voted neutral due to my love for Snow Elven culture.

Hard to say. Both were at fault for the results.

I would eventually side with the Snow Elves as the Atmorans' crusade for "justice" increasingly gets out of hand.

I had to side with the Snow Elves on this one. According to what I learned when translating falmer text, the nords and snow elves were at war in the first era. The nords drove the elves from THEIR home (not the nord's home, the snow elves home) forcing them to seek shelter with the dwarves. The dwarves betrayed them. forced them underground and poisoned them to the point they lost their sight and became the savage falmer we see today.

Seems like the same sort of thing with the forsworn only no driven underground, blinded and betrayed part.

I'll usually side with the oppressed and not those oppressing them. While I still love the nords, their history is stained with innocent blood.

Here is a short version of what happened.

Falmer killed lots of Nords. The survivors (Ysgramor and his sons) went back to Atmora to gather the 500 who then came to Skyrim for revenge. Falmer seek shelter with the Dwemer but the Dwemer blinded the Falmer. Some Falmer didn't accept it and they where either killed or eventually made the deal with the Dwemer.

Actually the Snow elves attacked first when the Atmorans first settled, slaughtering the inhabitants of Saarthal and razing it to the ground. There are several theories for this, although no evidence to support any.

I feel (at first) the Nords were justified in this case, however I do share your opinion on their treatment on the Forsworn.

I'm neutral, I'd need to examine the situation thoroughly before choosing a side.

I like both races. :D

Snow Elves although I cant really outright condemn either side since we know next to nothing about the events that started it. Other then a group of Mer either Falmer or Dwemer sacked saarthal. As well as whoever attacked it also had a working knowledge of its layout.

Also assuming it actually was mer since there were only 4 survivors, Ysgramor and his sons and Azhidal who wasn't there at the time. Although seeing as he was learning from the various groups of Elves at the time he very much could have heard rumors circulating around about it.

I just wish we had a better time line for the war with the Falmer and the Nords war with the dragons and Dragon cult. They both seem to have happened between 1E 1 and 139.

Just when I thought I put that 1 year old dead and tenderized Horker away... My arms are still sore...

Snow Elves, gladly. Nords should have stayed in their frozen hell. My most humble opinion of course.

I see what you are trying to do here... You will need more than that, and your Pa's axe! :stare:

Either way, both the Falmer and Dragon cult are poorly represented, and they lack true substance. If the Nords still held onto the one thing that made them interesting to me[Dragon cult] then I may have been a little more neutral in this.

Not really... Well, yes! But as prey.

Not to mention the Falmer and Dragon War being so vaguely detailed and seemingly happening almost at the same time.

Must have been one hell of a dragon break between Ysgramor and Harald.

Well they do seem to thaw out during spring and attack everyone just like the Kamal or at least they did until the Dwemer and Dunmer beat them back at Red mountain and their tongues went to fight each other.
