[RELz]Atmospheric (Dark UI) Loading Screens - #4

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 11:54 pm

That's good news. :)

I didn't get much thinking done at work yesterday beyond what was needed for work, so I still have no suggestions for the four difficult shots. I hope you get something worked out!

Vac

I have a few ideas for two of them. I might just throw SICisternPurple into the Fringe, since that is sort of a "generic" background that covers all aspects of the SI anyway. The fourth one actually fits rather well with Dark UI, so maybe I should just leave it unchanged as well.

(Update your signature link, by the way. ;))

Updated. :D sorry, I missed that!

That leaves two shots; the one of the tower and the other of the bust of Sheogorath, right?

The thing is, aside from the bust itself, the bust shot isn't particularly different from any interior shot taken in Cyrodiil. It might be reasonable to stick with the original DarkUI texture for that one, no?

The tower... I haven't a clue.

Sorry, I'm fresh out of creative ideas this week.

Oh, I think I should have been more clear there. The two that I have ideas for are actually the bust and the tower. The other two were meant to be the ones that I had already sort of decided what to do with.

Nah, my statement wasn't very clear. Anyway, thinking of just using some of the crazy weather/sky textures for the tower, and just some new background with some generic stone/wood/etc. textures for the indoor bust. Even though those backgrounds will only have one loading screen for them for now, maybe in the future there will be additional screens to fit them.

Oh, the sky textures would be very cool! If those are practical to use then that's a good selection of interesting and exotic backgrounds available.

In both cases, I would agree, you should get further shots for SI in the future and it's quite possible that there will be other shots that will suit these backgrounds. It should be worth the effort now to give you more options later.

If I understand correctly that means the add-on pack is close to being wrapped up? Thanks for picking up my suggestion to do this! :) All I can do to repay you is try and get more screens for you to add. :biglaugh:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20060 :foodndrink:

The theme pack is currently only available in a full package. I plan on dividing it up into individual packages for each subtheme in case people only want to install certain subthemes for whatever reason. I'm a bit burned out from all the packaging/documentation writing/compressing/uploading I just finished, so the invidiual packages probably won't be available for a few days.

Yay!

Seriously, great work! Thanks for the mention in the credits too, of course. :)

Downloading now, I'll report if there are any issues.

Well, I hope no report means no issues so far. ;)

Anyway, just finished uploading all the individual subtheme packages to TESNexus and 4shared.

At this point no bug reports from me only means that there weren't any 0kb files: I haven't got around to loading the game up in... a while... :'(

I might just take a break from making new magic items for Trollf and try to check it out. :)

Hmm, one query: I thought you left the Charactergen01 screen with the original text and the original load location (i.e. the beginning of the tutorial). It seems that this has changed sometime in the last few releases, as I'm sure it used to be like that. Is this a case that you've fixed a prior oversight, or that you've accidentally changed something you were intending to keep, or that you've simply changed your mind?

Or am I misremembering?

In which .ESP? The text has always been changed to a quote in Random Quotes or removed in No Text, and the specific location always removed in both ESPs.

In Original Text, I believe I had originally left the location alone, but changed it later when I decided the text was "generic" enough (it's just a note that no one has ever escaped) to not be limited strictly to the tutorial dungeon. That, by the way, has been the "standard" I've used in determining which screens in Original Text to leave with their locations and which to allow to load everywhere.

I've always used the random quotes esp, and I would have sworn it had kept that quote previously. If it's a definite design choice then that's fine... Maybe I am confused... I care more about the pictures anyway :P

Oh, well, yes, if it was left with its original text, then it was purely by accident, and I would've changed it to a quote as soon as I noticed that it was not. I don't really remember doing so, though.

Oh, or perhaps some other mod had made a slight change to that screen or something?

Version 3.45 released. 25 screens. Another small update to the Lost Spires theme pack will follow sometime tomorrow or Sunday.

Edit: Err...will follow...sometime this week. Was busy on Saturday and got pretty sick that night, had a terrible night of sleep, remained sick for most of today, and am still feeling a bit "drained."

All mine? :touched:

OK, thanks for the update!

You're going to start running short of screens from me at this rate, how many do you have sitting unchecked?

Okay, small update to the Lost Spires theme pack released, with 4 new screens from version 3.45.

Going to be very busy for most of this week (and possibly next week), so next batch of new screens might take awhile. I'll probably try to fit a few little projects related to organization and presentation into small gaps of free time.

Edit: And just got back up to the 1 GB limit at Photobucket. Will probably try out Picasa Web Albums for additional screens.

Still in the midst of a terrible month :(, but managed to complete a few screens today. This also marks the beginning of a new album at a new location, since I reached the limit on Photobucket.

I decided to use Picasa Web Albums, since it has a reasonable limit (another 1 GB), album support, and I can use the caption in place of the title. Loading screens #1596 and beyond will be placed in http://picasaweb.google.com/atmosphericloadingscreens/OblivionLoadingScreensPart3. Any future theme packs or other ALS projects will be placed in new albums there as well.

May finish some more screens over this weekend, and will attempt to release a small update (20-25 screens) when I can.

Okay, have enough screens finished for a small update (20). Might finish everything today, but that is unlikely. Have a busy Friday, so the release will probably come this weekend. This update also includes some more Oblivion realm screens, so an update to that theme pack will follow.

Yay! And I am finally getting to see some of these by playing too: some people's pictures are just fantastic! Thanks to all the other contributors as well as to you.

Because I've managed to do some playing I am starting to get some new pics as well. :D Assuming I have time to play more there should be a new flow to you again. :)
