Atmospheric Sound Effects

Post » Thu Aug 16, 2012 6:19 am

I just installed the mod a few minutes ago, and this just might be the way the mod is suppose to be, but it really doesn't sound like the sounds are happening at random intervals. The bridge in the middle of Seyda Neen must be on the verge of collapsing because a creak goes off near it every second and I'm hearing that vanilla "distant howl" more frequently.

To anyone else that happens to have the mod, is this how its suppose to be or is something very wrong?

I have the 3.0 version of the mod, if it helps.

Doesn't sound right.

Could you post your modlist (bottom of your morrowind.ini) and the contents of your warnings.txt file (same location as morrowind.ini)

I wonder if you have multiple versions installed, or other sound affecting mods. Do you get this from a completely new game?

Did you make the changes to morrowind.ini. Although, IIRC, those were just for the weather sounds.

The only changes I made were for the weather sounds. I've also included a video of the creaking bridge in the first post.

And yes, I started up a new game. I wasn't very far in the game to begin with anyway.

Doesn't sound right.

Have to say, considering the nature of the mod, this response made me, honest and truly, laugh out loud. Jac will verify.

Sorry, aside from that, all I can say is that ASE shouldn't jump out at you in any way. It's more ambient. Is there a base file that should be loaded with the tribunal add-on?

Nope. All it said was to select the tribunal esp.

Are you, by any chance, using a non-English version of Morrowind?

Well, I can only think of three things.
  • Are you using version 3.04?
  • If so, did you update from a previous version?
  • Are you using MCP? There is a sound bug in MW which can cause some sounds to be inordinately loud. If you aren't using MCP, I recommend it. If you are, and you have that patch applied, try toggling it.

Pretty sure I'm using just 3.0. I guess the latest one is up on planetelderscrolls but the download is all messed up

I'm not using MCP, and the problem isn't things being too loud. Its if the intervals at which the sounds play at are not really random but play one after another, like the bridge continuously making creaking noises.

Hmm. I would definitely update to 3.04. I think I have a working link somewhere.

Here is a description of the updates: http://home.roadrunner.com/~cairnterrier/

Here is a good download link: http://mw.modhistory.com/download--7148

The readme says to run ase30update4.exe but it isn't in the folder. Am I missing something here?

Probably. Since it isn't available anymore, Asimov kindly uploaded it to MMH. I'm assuming he had already extracted the installer. I would suggest installing it the usual (manual) way.

Well, I installed it. The bridge seemed to go from being unstable to normal creaky bridge, but there was this continuous wind noise wherever I went.

I really feel like just uninstalling MW, reinstalling it and installing ASE first to see if the problems arose from some unnoticeable conflict.

Go ahead and try that. I would think if there was some sort of conflict, it would be with Vality's add-ons, but only because you happen to be in that area when experiencing the problem.
