Atronachs . . .

About summoning [censored] that is not from Oblivion:

First and foremost game play mechanics.

In Morrowind we have this big book about necromancers building skeletons and the likes, we have this Mechano instruction manual to construct a Dwemer Centurion, yet you can summon them. Which doesn't make sense. This suggest that summoning is used as a substitute for creating one in advance.

In Oblivion we have groups of Necromancers and groups of Conjurers, the Necromancers decidedly stick with summoning Zombies, the Conjurers stick with Daedra. If it were all the same thing, if it were all just ordinary conjuration, the distinction wouldn't exist.

In Bloodmoon we have spells that are named Call Wolf and Call Bear, not a bad spell thematically as Solstheim is riddled with them. Yet rather then calling one, it's summoned. This again suggests that it is a game play substitute.

Just about the only spell that actually has a back ground that suggest something is actually being teleported in is the Summon Fabricant spell. It's attached to Barizildirs mazed band which can be used for just that, teleporting stuff.

Every time something comes in the form of Summon X, and X is not from Oblivion there is a clear suggestion that X is also not summoned. But rather constructed before hand, near by and called or very rarely by use of dangerous artefacts, teleported in.

And done three times over already. Hmmpf.

Why can't undead, prepared and raised elsewhere by the necromancer, be summoned? Daedra can summon other Daedra in Oblivion.

"Why can it not be?" is the wrong question. It implies something is not being done right now because of some presumed difficulty. Right now just about everything appears to be summoned. So the proper question is: "Why is it not so?"

Now I believe I've just explained that. Every time something comes in the form of Summon X, and X is not from Oblivion there is a clear suggestion that X is also not summoned. But rather constructed before hand, near by and called or very rarely by use of dangerous artefacts, teleported in. As such the summonings of X are first and foremost game play mechanics.

Atranochs are Daedric beings who are very intelligent and capable of easily breaking the bonds between a lesser Daedra and it's Daedroth lord. Golems are enchanted materials that move on their own through mac, but have no intelligence. They are often confused.

Flesh Atronachs are made, not summoned (from a realm in oblivion). They are actually Golems (I think)

Oh ok thanks, I just don't know any lore behind atronachs... at least not yet :)

Okay, I was just wondering, how smart are Frost and Storm Atronachs? I know a lot of Daedra have at least man or mer level intelligence, but I don't know if that applies to the various Atronachs.

I also seem to remember a talking atronach in Morrowind, but was that Atronach unique? Sorry if this question has been asked already, but I really want to know.

From Varieties of Daedra:

The case of the Elemental Atronachs, on the other hand, is less certain. Flame and Frost Atronachs, for example, appear to be highly intelligent, but not all varieties of Elemental Atronachs seem to be social or to have the power of speech.

Ok, I think my question was a bit misunderstood here. What I was wondering was if Atronachs (Frost and Storms one in particular) would be smart enough to have actual conversations with men. And, to a lesser extent, if they would be willing to.

Thanks for all the responses, though!!!
