Attack On Titan - THE GAME!

Post » Thu May 19, 2016 10:05 pm

If you've not read Hajime Isayama's Post Apocalyptic Dystopian Nightmare Manga "Attack On Titan" or seen the Anime they made for the series then the image below may seem somewhat surreal and wierd.

However if you have read the Manga or seen the Anime then this should be pretty cool to play.

If you're a fan of Attack On Titan or comics in general then also check out Kay Pike on the Interweb.

She creates comic pictures of herself using body art and first caught people's attention with her portrait of one of the titans here:

(That's a photograph of her, painted, not a drawn image)

Games based on animes are no different from games based on movies, shows, and comic books; they typically range from complete crap to mediocre. I wouldn't get excited if I were you.

I know where you're coming from.

Historically movie tie ins have been pretty awful but this Generation games like "Mad Max", "Alien: Isolation", "Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4", "Deadpool" and "The Witcher" series all show that these types of games can be some of the best stuff out there to play.

We'll have to see what the game is like as it gets closer to release but it would be silly to write it off when Publishers are demonstrating they can make some pretty entertaining games in these genres.

while true in many cases, there are exceptions..

as an example, Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs. Full Boost is a solid game in its own right.. even if your not a fan of the anime or manga, its unique and smooth (yet complex) gameplay mechanics and variety in mobile suits make it a very interesting 3D fighting game in its own right.. it focuses on engaging gameplay, rather than trying to follow any of the gundam series' plotline.. Its a blast to play competitively, they had a tournament at a convention i went to a few summers back (i made in to the quarter finals using Astray Red frame)

somehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEvS_JuWUyA for an example of what its like

the biggest issue with Anime (or Manga) based games is they either try to follow the anime's plotline to closely, but suffer from the story not translating to well to something that relys heavily on engaging gameplay.. or its a side story that suffers from the "filler syndrome" we see effect so many of those shonen series (which often go on longer than they need to) where the filler doesn't really add much to the setting so it is easily forgotten..

was the Naruto game well received? i haven't heard much about it aside for an ad when starting up steam..

Dragonball Xenoverse was pretty well received it seems and it was based off of an anime (they are apparently releasing a sequel game this year).. granted, anything Dragonball sells well at this point, due in part to the nostalgia we get from when we watched it in the evenings back in the 90s
