Attackers; Defenders

Post » Sun Aug 29, 2010 3:16 am

Hello people!

I'm new to the forums and I'm just keeping an eye up for this game, hoping it will be great. I recently read from somewhere here on the forum that playing as resistance or security means
that you will play ONLY as either attacker or defender (he didn't specify which one plays as what). It doesn't make any sense to me that there wouldn't be any counter attacks in a war, so any
response on this topic would be appreciated.

The more I think about it doesn't sound right, it would really limit the so called "Ark" and the variety of maps you can create.
I don't really need to say more here...the rest will most definitely work itself out from your responses.

Well what most people think is that when your in Resistance areas (e.g. Container City, the Docks) Security is attacking. Likewise in Security areas (like the Airport), Resistance is attackiing

The maps have fixed objectives and settings. Depending on these two conditions, either the security or the resistance attacks. It's a fixed setting for each map.

The Resistance probably attacks on maps located in the Security part of the Ark, while the Security will attack on the resistance part of the Ark. Both parts will contain multiple maps.

Sounds good, thanks for the response. Kind of like the rich vs the poor going at it; attacking; counter -attacking..?

Its not even that simple.

In container city, there are two parts of the mission. In the first, the Security have to defend the robot until it gets to its destination. The resistance is trying to damage it and stop it from moving until the time runs out.

If the security make it to the end of that half, there is a second mission where the security have to take the bioweapon to the extraction point, resistance is trying to prevent their vaccine from being taken by the security, so they are on defense now.

In short, both sides will attack and defend, sometimes on one map.

It depends on how you define attacking and defending. I consider the security as the attacking team, even when defending the robot. Imo, the attacking team has to push forward. In container city they do this by blowing up the gate, escorting the robot and fixing the crane.

That's true in that sense but overall each side with play both offense and defend maps.

All your responses makes the game sound better. I'm really looking forward to playing carefully thought through missions in multiplayer, it will really give PvP gameplay more depth and dimension than what I'm playing right now. I've gotten really bored with the games that are in the loop nowdays, 'cause they're all the same and the gameplay is pretty much the same. All games seems to blend into one and the same game, but I hope that Brink will be good enough to give that fresh breath of air that the shooter genre needs.
