Attemp on my life?

Hey there all, I've just recently started a playthrough. Havent had all that much time to play been bug hunting in the Vindictus beta ;). Anyways I logged in today and when through a little tomb, wich I have to say so far Morrowinds dungeons are scarier than oblivions despite the very aged graphics. I got into a scuffle with a corpsewalker and needed to rest, though when I do I'm abrubptly awoken by an assassin which ended up being a dark brotherhood assassin. Discovered this by looking at his armor. Shortly after my game crashed without giving me a chance to save. (I had the Morrowind patch project thing running without Bloodmoon and Tribunal checked, I think that was the problem.) So I reloaded but this time I was not attacked. Did I miss out on a really cool random event?

It's the intro to the Tribunal expansion.

Also the Morrowind Patch Project relies on having both expansions active, and not having those active can cause all sorts of issues like crashing.

I suppose that explains my crash then, the patch started the intro to the expansion without the expansion active hehe. Thanks.

How did you get attacked by an assassin if Tribunal was unchecked? Impossible.

And yes, the MWPP needs Tribunal and Bloodmoon to work.

No idea but it honestly was indeed unchecked.

The patch probably fixes some bugs in the assassin script and since it doesn't change anything in Tribunal.esm then the script is added to the patch plugin.
This trigger the assassination attempt but it doesn't start the Tribunal questline since tribunal.esm is unchecked.

You had to have had it checked. Otherwise the assassin's armor would've been giant yellow exclamation points with smiley faces for icons.

Really? I thought that as long the meshes and textures are properly installed then any plugin can use them.

No, a certain plugin enables certain textures and meshes and inserts them into the game when you start it up. If it's unchecked, it doesn't add them to the game.
