I either use shock spells or use dragon shouts.

Four enemies? I run! lol

I wish I had more than 4 most of the time. The start of the Boethia quest line was wicked fun. Me vs like 10 or so followers. Got my heavy armor to 99 during that fight from 97 lol. But I am well above the armor cap so the only guy who hurt was that spell caster dude. Oh this is on master.

How do YOU control enemies in the game from becoming too overwhelming when fighting?

Let's say there are 2-4 enemies in front of you. You stand there either dual wielding swords or a shield and sword. How do YOU fight? Do you just go in and swing, swing, swing like crazy? Or do you have a strategy to taking out these 2-4 enemies?

dual wield sword and mace (ignore armor is key) and use dual power attacks and dual regular attacks (when out of stamina)

Also make sure to aquire the skills increasing maces' ability to ignore armor and increasing the speed of dual attacks

im off! huzzza!

I'm a solo Nightblade myself so I keep a spell in my off hand which means I cannot block and without a companions I can't just let them tank.

I use a lot of fancy foot work as a result. If the landscape permits as well I go all Assassins Creed and bust out some freerunning to get some space. If things get messy I always have Elemental Fury and Unrelenting Force to break up swarms. It all boils down to fancy foot work in the end though.

This sounds like me, if I can't sneak-shot all the enemies in the area. When there's nowhere to run and I'm between shouts, my hybrid-nightblade-whatever doubles as a decent tank with her healing spell in the offhand (and 200lbs. worth of potions that I can never seem to use all of).

Block with the shield > side-sweeping power attack that hits all enemies > slice > shield bash > slice > execution move > loot

I find the Sweep perk with 2H is rather effective.

Barring that, I;d use a shout

I just tank em all with my 20pt health absorb on each of my swords (+30pt shock). With that many enemies, all I have to do is stand still and swing like crazy at whatever's closest to me.

Shield bash is great, especially when there's a couple of deathlords you need to keep off balance. Using Chain Lightning in my off-hand helps weaken a group, too. Of course, Unrelenting Force is always fun.

My Stratagy is just go crazy. On adept difficulty at least. Anything Harder i try to lure just one or two away and fight them by themselves. Usually with a bow untill were alone. Then it just depends what I feel like doing at the time. Harder enemies like Drougr Wright I go sword and shield with a bash slash comb. If They use magic then I bash as soon as they start. Against Archers i just charge in and get close. They usually pull out a dagger anyways. If Im outside or near a cliff, force push shout, conjure a flame atronoch then I try to get the weaker enimies first because they die fast. Then I can go toe-to-toe with the badass enemies Like Briar Hearts, or Drougr Scourge Overlord. (I think there is such thing at least, but you get my point on the drougr overlord part.) Plus I wait an hour if and when I can after every encounter because you get your HP and Magicka back as well as an auto save so if you get [censored] by four enemies you can just reload and try another strategy.

I use shouts for crowd control;

Unrelenting force to just get them go away for a moment.
Iceform also is quiet effective to freeze a large group.

However my follower is a warrioress and can easily tank a large group.
So most the time I take a step back, let her tank then pull back the bow and slow time. Release the fury!

I use narrow passages to funnel them so I am really only fighting one or 2 at most. I took on 4 deathlords this way. It was tough though.

Not exactly a swordsman, or a weapon-n-shield guy, or a dual wielder, but I tend to use Unrelenting Force, Sweep(AoE Two-Handed power attack, requires perk), or simply hack away. That said, I use heavily perked heavy armor(no pun intended, yeah it was) so I can take a lot of damage.

I balance it out by going willy nilly with my sword, but if it is a tough crowd of enemies then I block when I need to.

Easy: FUS RO DAH!!!

Perk up Shield Bash too! It will knock them back and make the stagger, freeing up a few precious seconds.

Also put Restore Stamina potions on your favorites list, so you can do lots of power attacks.

1. Try the attack and when that fails:
2. Gulp down some stamina potions.
3. Turn around.
4. Run like hell.
5. Hide and repeat.
Sorry for being a whuss, but evading is a major part for me staying alive. And I hate it when it's not a viable option :P

Killing everthing in one hit helps. But without Fus Ro Dah and ridiculous damage output, I try to make sure I'm never fighting more than 2 enemies at a time. This is why I always will use a bow on my warrior builds. :jammasterjay:
