Attribute Distribution

Post » Tue Mar 18, 2014 9:37 am

I wanted to discuss this in the other thread, but it kept taking a backseat to other conversation. What is the ideal attribute distribution? I prefer a 4/2/1 ratio, meaning at level 50, I'd have 28 points into magicka, 14 points into health and 7 points into stamina. However, a lot of the players who actually reached level 50 said the best distribution is to put every single point into health. One guy had a sorcerer, and even though he put every point into health, he was still able to overcharge his magicka. In essence, he hit the cap. With zero points invested into magicka.

That bugs me. In the racial thread, people were talking about how the racial bonuses could make a big difference in post game. Well, attribute distribution seems like it would make a bigger difference. Would my 4/2/1 ratio make me significantly weaker than other players?

Ideal?

Every level into health.

The things is.. we are crippled with deciding our attributes. Every level automatically increases the attributes and we have absolutely no control over that.

I hope they lower the health soft cap just to stop people from doing that. People should be rewarded for diversifying. Why is the soft cap for magicka so much lower than health?

This is what annoyed me: if I chose a Breton Sorcerer, for example, I get both Racial and class passives that augment magicka use in some way (regen, lower cost, etc)... which means I would hit the soft cap quite soon.... which means to avoid "wasting" that overcharge, I would be better off wearing medium or heavy armor INSTEAD of light.

While I appreciate that I ~could~ choose to wear Medium or Heavy armor, I'd rather there were some trade-off... but if you are pegged at soft cap, then there IS no real down side, which means there's only an UP side to choosing Medium or Heavy armor. So why ~wouldn't~ you? Which means my Breton Sorcerer would likely be running around in plate.... whereas an Orc Dragonknight for example, might "have" to wear Light armor to get magicka use under control...

I guess I'm just going to do my own thing. If push comes to shove, I'll respec. I'm still in inner turmoil about whether or not I'll stay a Khajiit or not, but that's a bridge I'll cross 14 days from now.

Hah  My original idea was to go bosmer, but now I am thinking Khajiit. We could swap

Or, yknow, alts. Lots of alts.

And yeah, you can respec attributes separately from skill points (and cheaper), so no need to worry about doing it wrong.
