For the record i like the look of the new system i have some doubts but will wait and see.

In recent interviews Todd has stated that the 8 Attributes found in previous titles can be filtered down to Health, Magicka and Fatigue. To increase these 3 is the only reason people increased the 8 and therefore we only need these 3. However the Attributes affected a wide range of skills and abilities as well. Like how fast you swing your weapon and how much damage each blow does. How fast you run and how much punishment you can take.

Now I get that the perks are meant to replace this but saying 8 filters down to 3 is just wrong because they didn't. I tried to get my Attributes up for lot's of reasons not just the 3 he has stated. It's no biggie yet but i hate being fed a line of crap

Fact is they can be filtered down to 3, Weapon damage will come under strength as will HP and defence against physical attack, Running and swimming speed will fall under fatigue.

This has really been discussed to death.

I agree, and all I can offer is that perhaps it's a psychological issue and Todd's feeding himself the same manure. He said in one of the early releases (The GI exclusive, I believe) that he goes through every game looking for things to remove. I think this is a sign of some deep-seated issues, and his (patently false for the reasons you've already stated) claim that all the 8 attributes affected was Health, Stamina, and Magicka are his psyche's attempt to rationalize its knee-jerk actions in some way so as to protect him from the realization that he's in dire need of serious professional help. :thumbsup:

But seriously, I think...y'know what, it doesn't matter. The 8 did affect a lot more than the 3, so the above is as likely an explanation as any.

Within 10 days only, we've had these many threads about attributes. I count that 34 threads. Do people know how to use the search function? The discussion is there over and over and over again and again.

I get what your saying you didn't use attributes for just those 3 things, I didn't either and yeah you do have to take most of what Todd says with pinch/grain of salt(I can't remember the saying :L). However beth have decided upon this new system and I'm gonna reserve final judgment on it until I get my grubby little Mitts on it

So were all the countless others, but people are very interested in this topic for whatever reason and people moaning about how there have already been countless other threads has proved ineffective thus far(people are just going to continue making these threads no matter what), I say just roll with it. If nothing it leads to lots of intersting(if very similar)and heated debates.

Sometimes things can just be too much that they eventually get pointless and redundant.

It's so easy to ignore his post, but you have to question its purpose.

I agree that the propaganda surrounding the removal of attributes - particularly the assertion that the "only" reason anyone ever paid attention to attributes was to increase their health, stamina and magicka tanks and that the eight main attributes that were removed can be "folded into" the three derived attributes that were already there - appears to be self-servingly diversionary at best, BUT... at this point, posting about attributes on this forum is akin to posting about Ayn Rand on Daily Kos. It's just going to guarantee a storm of well-rehearsed and oft-repeated scorn, derision and overt hostility. Best to just let it go and move on to a topic regarding which people aren't quite so rigid.

Maybe guns or dragon mounts or multiplayer.....

Not only could a simple search have found any of those threads, but all of them can be summed up in seven words exactly: "they changed it so it svcks." That's all there is too it, since it isn't the same of what we had before in greater quantities, it can elicit nothing but scorn, constant complaints, and a pre-order for the special edition.

I think that since the removal of things was conterbalanced by the addition of other things, it should break even, but rather than blindly sing the praises of the perk system or wail and moan and tear my hair out at the removal of attributes, I'll leave it at that vague speculation.
