Attributes maxed out - unable to levelup

Post » Sun Sep 12, 2010 4:02 am

Hello!
I am level 44 currently and all my attributes have been maximized upon reaching level 44 from 43. Choosing The Thief as my birthsign and Luck as a favoured attribute helped me maximise Luck earlier than normal and now I've increased ten major skills and got the levelup message although after sleeping I cannot levelup from level 44 to 45. http://imageshack.us/m/801/743/level44to45.jpg and neither the level increases nor my health goes up by ten extra points. Is this the way it's meant to be? I've played three or four serious character earlier with which I reached high 40s and even 50 or 51 level earlier but was able to get to those levels as I still had Luck at around 80 or 90. Does that mean that my character is effectively stuck at level 44 and there is no way for me to reach 45, 46 etc? Not that it changes things a lot or gives me much benefit other than extra health, just plainly curious. Never been in this situation playing Oblivion or Morrowind either!

Yes that is what it means.

You can no longer increase levels when all attributes are maxed. That "perfection" message is what you get. That is standard.

But most people max out major skills before attributes. Because you kind of have to try hard to max attributes before major skills. Particularly luck. If all attributes except Luck were at 100 then you can still increase levels.

And of course you can no longer level if you max all major skills. However in that case you can theoretically drain skills an get training or something similar to squeeze out another level or so. Or you can use the jail exploit where going to jail can decrease a major skill. But that doesn't work with attributes.

Ah, I see. Funny thing that I still have 45 major skills left to increase so I could get another 4 or 5 levels up. Well nevermind then, my character is pretty tough anyway, only having hard times with the undead. Think Sancre Tor! :wallbash:

I've calculated that I'll max out at level 49. It's all about planning out the math and leveling strategy very precisely early on.

I'm not even sure if that would work once all attributes are maxed. The jail trick lowers skills AFAIK, but I've never heard of losing base points with attributes. Once you get the "perfection" message, anymore sleeping to level up won't work even if your level up bar says your ready to. The game will just keep you at that level and feed you the "perfection" message each time you sleep.

Increasing your skills strengthens the player character, leveling up strengthens your enemies.

Remind me why you want to level up?

If you do really want to level up more, you can exploit the glitch in the shivering isles with the quest Addiction. Its the one where you have to get a felldew addiction, which, in its worst stage, will give you -15 to Luck, Intelligence, Strength, and Agility, and -10 to Speed, Willpower, and Endurance. You will therefore be able to level up and, when the addiction is cured, you will have stats over 100.
