No attributes sounds horrible.

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 4:57 am

Since health, magicka, and stamina aren't attributes but are derived attributes, that means that only leaving those 3 results in 0 attributes in Skyrim. Seriously, who thought this was a good idea? There's literally no difference between my mage and my fighter other than skills? How do I carry more crap without wasting perks? How do I hit harder in melee without wasting perks? How are you going to raise magicka regeneration without wasting perks? Seems like a horrible system where you'll never pick anything fun because you have to pick perks that should come from raising attributes.

Looks like I have to wait for attributes to be modded back in, sigh. Was looking forward to November 11th too...

I think you mean "using" perks. You'll "use" your perks for those sorts of things

A waste of a perk would be like the cannibalism perk in Fallout 3, the healing you get from it was so miniscule it was basically an RP perk

Hopefully, they'll do it right.
If not, it's sure to be one of the first mods to come out. You know, after a nudity mod ,of course.

I didn't like it when I found out they got rid of attributes, but I think it will be fine. Everything the attributes did can be done by other stuff, and not just perks. The only one that I don't know how their going to do it is magic regen.

The difference between your two characters are perks... which will be a huge part of the game to replace attributes. You asked what separates your two characters and go on to answer your own question. No, but you're right. Go ahead and just bash the new system just because it's new.

First of all, it's a great idea. Second of all, they are attributes so we have 3, the 3 that actually matter.

Perks, skills and attributes are the difference between two characters now. There is more diversity and wider variation with perks, the 3 attributes and skills than there were with the 8 attributes and skills. The old attributes had little impact on the game while perks have what seem to be a pretty large impact on the game as they are the major source of damage for your character and some of them even have tangible changes to the way your character behaves. Imo, this was a change for the better as it gives more customization to TES, which everyone claims is their prerogative, and it is something you can actually feel change instead of them being such little incremental change that you don't even notice.

Wasting Perks? I'm pretty sure thats an oxymoron.

Seems like your dealing judgment on this way too early.

Yeah, pretty much what I've been saying. We just assume the new system svcks because its different than before, which is entirely moronic. Haven't we been saying this hole time quality>quantity? If thats true, 18 down to 3 might not be a huge deal. Notice I said might, since I haven't even played the game yet :shakehead: seriously, people need to calm down.

Yeah I don't plan on playing until they take mod out duel wielding. I don't understand how it works, and its change...change scares me.

Well, I also don't mind the change at all because I thought the old system of forced skills (I don't want to level 7 skills, sometimes, only 3 or 4) and efficient leveling was just horrible, but that's just me.

I like the idea of not having to choose all your major and minor skills in the first 10 minutes of the game.

Yeah, I'm with you. But we have a lot of extremists who believe its amazing/horrible without even playing it. It sounds like a good idea to me, and even if it doesn't to you, at least give it a chance.

Plus I don't get the "wasting perks" line. How do you waste something when they your choosing them for their main purpose?

I'm fine with the reasoning behind this new system from what I gather thus far, but honestly I am still apprehensive, somewhat, about where would the functionality of the Luck attribute (chance of better loots, among other things,) magic resistance, balance and encumbrance will be assigned to. I'd rather not to have them comes in tiers instead of being gradual, to be perfectly honest. Which is how the perk system seems to work.

I doubt there will be any 'fun' perks. All perks will probably serve something in each skill like you said.

I doubt they are like FO perks that do a few goofy things, more practical stuff.

I like it in FO but not in TES.

It isn't FO.

Don't say that, your going to shock the people who thought perks were first in FO3, when they were actually in TES before the implemented them into FO.

Nope, he was serious and I'm totally on his side. Let's make a movement to go back to 8-bit graphics in Skyrim. Huzzah!

My guess is that the perks will actually make for a better experience because IMO the perks in Fallout made it a better game then Oblivion.
