Hmmm... I tried a few LAME and Midas scripted spells and wasn't able to reproduce it. Maybe there's some conflict with another mod. Do you mind posting your load order?

by the way ive tried recreating it and just casting some spells doesnt seem to cause it. also something to look into could be the ini settings since it may be enabling/disabling something that causes the problem

Potential issue: you both use Conduit Magic, which I haven't tested against. I took a quick look at CM and it deals with autocalc values which would result in the error you're reporting. Try loading up without Conduit Magic and see if the error persists. If it does, I can see if a fix is possible.

Not really on topic, but the way Conduit Magic uses clone forms will cause savegame bloat.

well this is a dissapointment if conduit magic is the cause. Ill test as soon as a can, but since i fixed the issue earlier and saved over that game ill have to wait till a run into it again.

the bloat is also dissapointing, if conduit magic is the problem i guess i will have to leave it untill a workaround is found

Nope, not Conduit magic.

Started up the game without it:
Astral recall: 30
Icarian leap: 200

Selected Icarian leap(casted it), jumped around a a bit, and then took off Sheogorath's regalia, and ring of perfection. I checked the spells again:
Icarian leap: 222
Astral recall: 1

Then I put the stuff back on, checked my stats again and then exited the journal. I then pressed 3 which is the hotkey for beast of burden(Didn't cast it, 500 feather spell, the spell directly above Icarian leap), and pressed F3, Icarian leap had gone down to costing 2 magicka.

Ok, I took a closer look through Conduit Magic and it isn't the source of the problem. It only looks at the autocalc flag and doesn't set it. However, I recommend removing the mod anyway because it does cause permanent savegame bloating.

i tried this and haven't run into the issue since, i just stopped playing a few minutes ago to see if you had come up with an answer. It may just take time to come back after you clean save tho.

The hope is that upgrading without making a clean save is the problem. I don't know much about how it works, but I've heard that making changes to an .esp without a clean save can cause variables to end up having the wrong values and various other problems. There are a number of variables in AM whose state needs to remain correct between sessions, and one of them going wrong after updating definitely could cause the problem you two have described. If that is the issue, the only fix required is to add update directions to the readme (and hope people read it :shrug: ).

...I don't think I ever updated.... Nope I didn't, my download folder only has one Audacious magery archive.

1.0.1 seemed like something small that I wasn't too worried about, and 1.0.2 came out after I had already noticed the bug. Anyway I downloaded 1.0.2, applied it, deactivated the mod, made a clean save. Now I activated the esp and am going to see if it did any good.

ill try updating without a cleen save and see if i can recreate the problem on my end, i actually just updated a while ago using a clean save but i still have the save with the previous version of the mod.

Sadly, it didn't work. For awhile it seemed to, I was switching around casting a whole bunch of spells. Icarian leap a few times, Astral recall twice. Then I started casting Icarian leap over and over again and jumping around. After I ran out of my 3000 or so magicka I checked my spell list and saw that astral recall was 1 magicka again.

Could it be usage? I use those two spells a lot, it's the only explanation I can think of for those two spells alone being effected. I also use Finger of the mountain a lot but there's no script effect to that.

when i had the problem i noticed that a spell i didnt use anymore had its value changed as well, but i do think the problem happens while using spells.

This mod really looks interesting. One thing I miss is a chance that you loose Magicka and Health. I like the idea that if you cast a spell beyond your ability there's a chance you hurt yourself both physically and mentally, without touching attributes. Any chance that could be added and of course included in the ini so it can be turned off for those that don't like it? The amount lost could be set according to the amount of Magicka used.

EDIT: Seems you already have backfire in which I assume causes damage to health. Is the damage caused the about the same as the spell cast? And it would be nice if there was a chance for health damage for just about all spells beyond your ability.

This mod sounds great! A nice alternative to Sorcery's Toll, which I stopped using because my poor 17 Willpower woodelf kept harming herself using lesser and greater powers with costs, or when removing a plus-magicka ring.

With AM, do you suffer backlash any time your magicka drops (a la ST) or only when you actually cast a spell (as opposed to using a Power)?

There is a chance to lose/drain magicka or health for all spells beyond your ability, even if you don't use the backfire option. And all the effects scale for the amount of magicka used. If you don't want attribute damage, change these lines in the ini:

set aaEMMainQuest.dgatMagnitudeMult to 0.0
set aaEMMainQuest.dgatDurationMult to 0.0

Since that will remove a large number of penalties you may get, I suggest increasing the chance to make up for it:

set aaEMMainQuest.penaltyChanceMultiplier to 1.5

You will only suffer backlash when casting a spell that is beyond your ability and not a power. No need to worry about removing items.

More information is indeed helpful :)

After reading the part about using two spells a lot I decided to subject part of my script to some extra rigorous testing and discovered a bug. It involves quickly switching back and forth between spells during a spell cast. If you could switch spells fast enough, my backup+restore method was bugged and would fail to restore the status of the switched spells after the 2nd. The bug is fixed and a new version has been uploaded.

I'm still not sure if this bug is the cause of your troubles, but try updating (do a clean save just to be safe) and see if the problem is gone.

Could you elaborate a bit on the spell failure chance? I plan to use this alongside Fizzle and would like to know a bit about how they will behave together. Odd, it was always recommended to me that I switch to a power whenever I do something that will result in a loss of significant magicka.... because when you had a power selected Sorcery's toll wouldn't hurt you. Maybe you were using an earlier version than me.

(because with limits removed the game (well, the hud) assumes all spells are castable and does away with telling you what mastery level the spell is).

Spell failure chance is a chance, based on the strength of the spell vs. your skill, to have the casting fail. Willpower reduces the chance of a spell failing.

If you're going to use Fizzle alongside this, you should probably just disable spell failure, since Fizzle has more features. No real point in using both at the same time.

The issue with summons must be a conflict with a 4th mod - I've tested AM with LAME and SM. If you post your load order I might be able to help figure out the issue. It's definitely a conflict though, since AM doesn't even touch summon durations.

As for the second issue... check your spellbook ;)
Limits are only removed for the spell you have currently selected. Mastery levels will still be properly displayed for everything else.
