audio out of sync

Since the new patch, my audio is now completely out of sync with the game. Conversations don't work, I can't get people to talk to me. What happened and how can I fix this? It was never a problem before the patch this week.

if you go under sound there, in control panel, under advanced, for hardware, there should be something that says hardware acceleration, set that to none. If that doesn't work make sure your drivers are updated.

where is this? I see settings when the game starts, but that only controls volume. I'm not finding anything "advanced". I must be looking in the wrong place. Drivers are updated
