Aurora Borealis

Post » Thu Sep 09, 2010 10:43 pm

The Northern Light. Wouldn't it be cool if that were in Skyrim? I mean the Northern Light is common over the polar circle and I just thought "Skyrim is above that circle, right?" It would also add a nice touch and feel to the game. I'd very much hope for the phenomenon to come true in this game.

So, what do you think? Please share your opinion.

That would be amazing. But only in certain areas not the whole sky.

My thoughts exactly. What about more then just the regular blue-green ones? More colours would be nice.

I made a topic about this too two days ago, and yeah. for me aurora borealis would add aloooot of feeling into the game! I picture northern light dancing over the mountains on a freezing cold night where only Ice wraiths, werewolfs and vampires roam ^^

If you want to be pedantic- you have to consider that the northern lights are caused by particles entering the earth's atmosphere- and Nirn is not a planet in the elder scrolls universe
(the planets you see in the sky are other realms - i don't think there is any space between them)
so you'd need a new cause, but I voted yes because it would look pretty. And they can probably come up with something magical (as an explaination and with skyrim :) )

No problem man, I like that there are more elder scrolls fans that think northern lights should be added in Skyrim. Skyrim is after all, the land of the nords ^^ snow, cold, ice and northern lights is a must in a setting like that :D but making them must not be an easy task for the developers... so don't blame them if they rule out northern lights in the end...

Good idea I think. They could even wrap a quest around it. Similar to the Mythic dawn map that only shows at noon in Oblivion.

So? Stars are balls of plasma in space that emit light by fusing atoms together, but they are in The Elder Scrolls. This is a work of fiction, not academics.

Same here, I have family In the northern part of norway as well ;) and yeah, I don't live there, so I have only seen it twice. But both times it took my breath away. Its amongst the most beautiful thing in the world in my opinion. Its nothing like it

I voted maybe...

I want them, but if the devs feel that they can devote the time to other aspects that are going to be better for the game I'll be happy they do.

I live way up north in sweden where the aurora borealis appears quite often but it still looks awesome every time so a defenitive yes from me. It really adds a feeling of mystique, especially when it make sounds also.

It'd be nice to have something similar in the sky in Skyrim, but perhaps a bit "different" then our Northern Lights.
