I don't know if there was a topic like this but this bothers me. Aurora is pretty amazing think and it woulb be awesome if there would be one is Skyrim.
If Bethesda forgot about it then they should start to code it right now !

I think it would be cool... I know chances are some people are gonna say that "Aurora's arn't possible to happen in Skyrim because of some reason..." or sumpin... But I hope there are, but I don't want them every night

Edit:

Danger Dan said it all... I think I also might be in one of those forums :D

Like I said in most of those other ones given, a giant magical dragon of time is coming to eat us. I'd be surprised not to see strange lights in the sky.

I suspect that trying to render a decent looking Aurora would be difficult to do in a computer game. I'd rather see them devote that energy to something more meaningful myself. Shifting lights in the sky would be nothing but eye candy that you wouldn't even notice most of the time.

It bothers you? Why? Why start to code it right now? Is it really that important? AT ALL? It really isn't. It could never be in Skyrim and that would be totally fine by me. It's not like it HAS to happen or something.

Would be really nice yeah. I'd love to see them. If I don't, I would get a little disappointed actually.

If it's not in already, they should indeed make it happen before 11/11/11, since it would be very neat. Atmospheric. Beautiful. Unique. Stunning.

It would fit the scene of Skyrim pefectly and Beth are pretty damn good at night skies; Morrowind or the Shivering Isles, anyone? Could always say it's light of Aetherius entering Mundus or perhaps related to Sovngarde. Hmm, must research what the Norse peoples beleived about Aurora. :read:

Edit: Holy [censored]! Holy [censored]! How could I have forgotten? Valkyries!

But all of their night skies are pretty much static, with the exception of clouds passing. I'm not sure if you've ever been up north and seen them up close, but they're constantly shifting and taking new shapes, with different intensities of light and colours. They would not be an easy thing to recreate in a computer environment. And if they can't do them justice, then they should just not bother. Even if they could do them well, it would probably take them a long time to get it right. And that just wouldn't be worth it for some eye candy that you won't notice most of the time anyway.

I've seen them up in Scotland a couple of years ago, not particularly intense but still beautiful. I think they could be done well, it just needs a layer of the skybox have aurora animations.

I've seen them in Northern Manitoba, close to the Arctic Circle, and I'm not at all convinced they could be done well. That example from LotR certainly doesn't do them justice.
