Ausgamer skyrim article

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 12:06 am

Didnt see anybody post this article yet but they actually describe what they saw in the demo vs just recycling old details.
Here it is http://www.ausgamers.com/features/read/3048710

No matter how many times I read the exact same information about Skyrim and the hands-off demo from different internet sources, it just never gets old.

There was another article that mentioned the problem in a similar way - the enemies' reactions to your hits are still a bit lacking.

Well, I hope they take another look at it. It seems to be the only gripe so far.

''Our first taste of combat was in the first-person, and I did feel that more work needed to be done on contact animation and hit detection - it just looked a little laggy, or out''

''a stealthy take-down of one enemy with a bow reveals two current things about Skyrim: Stealth returns in great form, and the enemy AI still needs some work (because the death of one enemy resulted in the one standing next to him to just say “who’s there?” with no alarm).''

That was definitely one of the better written previews I've read today.

The menu system for all of this still looked a bit sparse

Our first taste of combat was in the first-person, and I did feel that more work needed to be done on contact animation and hit detection - it just looked a little laggy, or out.

Possibly the most pessimistic demo review for Skyrim I've seen yet.

it'd be remiss to preview the game and not bring it up.

This is true though I guess...

Edit: I take that back. It's actually very detailed and descriptive. The author is clearly enthusiastic about the game.

yea that was one of the better previews.

I hope they dont show to much at E3 like they usually do and spoil the begining.

That's a good article, because it does point out things that could use some polishing, meaning that it's not being misleading.

Not much to it/or in it. Either at the time or for now.

I'm guessing not as big as Oblivion's.

Good, balanced preview. Indeed one of the better articles I've read based on that press demo.

Also this may be small to some but is big to me. He confirmed fish swimming upstream so hopefully the waters are more alive this time... I hope fishing is in too...

I really hope fishing has made its way in as an activity. I'll spend a lot of time fishing and admiring the vistas.

I think they did say that every job you see an NPC doing you can do yourself... So I hope fishing is a job, because merchants have to get their fish someway right?

By far the best write-up I've read...from a site I've never heard of (being in the US...this makes sense) I love that they brought up some negatives...for some reason that makes me more hopeful for the final product. Not sure why.

Thanks for posting.

"Our first taste of combat was in the first-person, and I did feel that more work needed to be done on contact animation and hit detection - it just looked a little laggy, or out. I’m sure this is something that can be broached by the time the game is released in November, but it'd be remiss to preview the game and not bring it up."

hopefully BGS will look into this
