Austerity, Hardship & Economy Mods

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 9:23 am

We are looking for mods that make the game a lot harder.

For example- mods that make containers either empty or with minimal stuff in it.
Economy fixes that make it very hard to make money.
Not the Pirates trade enhancements or similar thing, but mods that make things a lot more expensive and give you much less money when you sell it.

Also, we'd like any mods that do away with any of the towns or any expansions that are barebones, without towns.

I'm not aware of any mod that does exactly what you're looking for, but the mods on Tarnsman's http://www.mwmythicmods.com/realism.htm offer some good alternatives. Example:

For example- mods that make containers either empty or with minimal stuff in it.

HotFusion's http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewdownloaddetails&lid=92 adjusts the leveled lists in such a way that valuable items are rarer in containers and only appear at higher levels.
Tarnsman's http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewdownloaddetails&lid=886 gives ownership to all of the outside containers in the cities, so you will think twice before looting them.

All in all, the mods featured on this page will make your game more challenging and (hopefully) more interesting.

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2658 increases merchants speechcraft and mercantile skills, and continues increasing them as the player levels (or so it says), which makes things generally cost more. It also makes mages guild travel, boats, and silt strider travel, repairing, repairing tools, and training much more expensive. It also does something with taxes. That's never really affected me.

In my experience this mod made things tougher economically early on. It doesn't help much later on though, as it doesn't adjust any loot lists.

Well, if you're using Better Heads, I have a mod that does the following:

-Increase the Mercantile of most merchants to 100. (The price difference is stunning.)
-Increase the Speechcraft of most merchants to 100. (Combined with the Code Patch permanent disposition change, it's devastating.)
-Merchants have more money. (Unneeded in this case, but meh.)

Thanks to everyone for your replies! We'll check them out!

Any suggestions about this?~

Dated but useful perhaps - http://www.mwmythicmods.com/Archives/Mods/Balanced%20mod%20suite%20a%20sample%20collection%20of%20mods.htm

Hope that helps.
