Australia

Even if this post is 'dead' I'd like to add... Australia has masses of Military bases in Central Australia, they even actually widely proclaim they do! Different bases of different contries hide beneath/above the sands... It's quite a good place, far from any type of 'danger'.

Good point Francois. Australia would have hardly been a problem for the rest of the world. Maybe to South East Asia or some other dumb ass area.

Oh and did Australia have Power Armor of anykind?

depends on how big it is :P

but the US now has enough nukes to destroy this entire planet 3 times over (or atleast wipe it of all life)
i'm thinking the US in the fallout universe had atleast as many if not more nukes in it's arsenal.

Oh come on now! (hehe)

We just met with Russia this week to talk about reducing our mutual number of nuclear weapons! I think we're talking about reducing from the 6,000 we had at the height of the cold war down to some where in the ~1,700 range.

So if each Russia and America have 1,700 a piece, adding in China's and Englands and you have at Least enough to burn the earth 10 or 20 times. ;)

The sad thing is that the deterrent isn't all that effective at stopping war anymore, so it's even more pointless now than it was in the 1950s.

Na, with our laid back attitude, the fallout would approach, see we couldn't care less and turn around and find someone else to wipe out.

You couldn't have said it better.

While the northern hemisphere is being devoured by radiation, and us Aussie's are just waiting for the Fallout, which would be considerably depleted in mass by the time it reached us, we could just fire off our own nukes at random countries: France, Vietnam, USA, Canada, Germany, Turkey, Austria etc. We would be the last of the civil society as we know it

Naaaa you all had it right with the Aussie attitude at the approaching cloud - you would all have burned to death like we did. :)

Actually with China's current craving for Australian Uranium and Farmland, it seems much more logical to me that the whole Alaska-thing is too Far fetched - they would hit you all in Australia first, and that would have pissed-off the Americans plenty good-enough to start a war with China. Difference is, you wouldn't need our help on the ground to get rid of them as they did in Alaska. ;)

That's possible, but its already been said that China attacked Alaska, and not Australia first (Or ever did attack Australia) so in that case, Australia would have just ended up being like it is in On The Beach. But don't worry my american friend, we Aussie's are currently creating a plan to help our friends after their country is completely obliterated :)

So just wait, there will be an Aussie rescue team after the bombs fall

If the post is dead it's back to life again! Like I said before I did some research on those bases in deserts... Can't post a link, don't ask why :(. And it seems that all different countries have different plans of different kinds. Almost 3/4 of the bases in Australia aren't even Australian related... Which means that the Yanks/Reds/Poms are all gonna live as well as the Aussies if our country survives... Make sense? Hope so.

probably we would of bought some, we dont make any military hardware we buy it.
or we could just take some from the American military bases here, there are more american military bases in australia then there are australian bases i think :biglaugh:

there arnt enough nukes to "destroy the world" they just mean if every one got and stood in big crowds there are enough nukes to kill them with a blast 20 times over.

fallout that would kill us would have to come from bombs in blown in aus its nearly as big as the us, remember fallout has a radius it isnt like one nuke will put leathal fallout into the world not even close

as for australia being nuked well they brittish already nuked us and its taken from the 1960's to the year 2000 to clear it up. (bloody poms lol :foodndrink: ) it didnt really affect any one except for aboriginals who were removed from the area by force (befor the bomb..)

so yeah your going to have to nuke us directly and with more then one bomb... but ofcause we all live on the east coast so it wouldnt be hard :sadvaultboy:

I figured that we probably would have bought some Power Armour, but still, that would be cool. I'd run around the Outback with some Power Armour. Killing anyone or anything that stood in my way.

And I live at the top in the center of the country, Darwin :intergalactic:

But why would the U.S nuke their allies?

Anyway, I think there is a good chance we Aussies survived the war, but only if we didn't let England push us around into battle for them. Our Uranium would be too valuable to lose and everyone loves us, so its all good. :P

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taronga

Also Mad Max. We Aussies have the coolest post-apocalyptic wastelands. :D

Taronga features a boy who has developed telepathic abilities and can speak to animals ?

Thats sounds a lot like "A boy and his dog" to me. Why do so many authors have the idea that radiation makes you able to speak to animals ? LOL

And yes , Mad Max rules :tops:

I heard that they finally started scouting locations for Mad Max 4 : Fury Road. In Australia of course.
Lets be honest.... this is what Australia really looks like and you just pretend of being such a nice continent. :D Mad Max shows us the reality and Lord Humungus rules the country. :D

If i should visit Australia one day, i will stay away from the highways and take a tank of gasoline with me. I could trade it for my life if necessary ! :D

Its still uncertain who will star in the movie. Gibson said that he is just too old and nobody would take him seriously playing the Road Warrior again. :D

What you all fail to see, is that Australia had Power Armour, much more advanced than the Enclave. So once the Enclave tries to take Australia, we'll be waiting for them with a whole stock pile of WAY Advanced Power Armour, and weapons.

GOOOOO AUSTRALIA!!!!!

My guess is that it probably got invaded by China or occupied by the US (just to help keep us safe from the Red Menace, of course :P) for its vast supplies of uranium, iron, gold, coal, and myriad other natural resources, and then nuked to hell by whoever wasn't controlling it when the nukes started flying.

Okay, now imagine hundreds or maybe thousands of nukes going off almost at the same time, everywhere except Australia.

Now imagon the Ultratons of explosive force and the fallout and radiation caused by that.

Now imagine the winds and seacurrents guiding the biggest and deadliest "cloud of fallout" around the world, and therefore also Australia.

Point is: If australia wasn't bombed itself, most of them would've been screwed anyway.

For those how would like to experience how that would be (everybody getting nuked except you) I can recommend "On the Beach" by Nevil Shute.

Advertisemant time is over, world is still destroyed, next question please!

well there survived enough people in the USA without any vault assistance to start the climb back into civilization levels (West coast, NCR) and the Fallout nukes didnt create any nuclear winter as far as we know, so there are people alive in Australia and Europe too.

Advertisemant time is over, America isnt the only one with primitive societies emerging probably, next question please!

Every time I think of post-apocalyptic Australia, I hear the song 'I come from a land down under'.. Maybe it's because at the beginning of the music video they're in a desert? The music kind of matches that of a desert. Anyways, it would be interesting to see post-apocalyptic Australia, and I'll probably mak a ropeplay of it in the fanfic section.

I doubt China would have invaded, gathering what happened in the 1950's in our time, the communist movements in the Pacific were scared out of their wits to even move about in the Jungle because of the Australian SASR, the NZSAS and the British SAS.
It was the very definition of effective guerrilla warfare, and we were the best at it.

Even if China did launch an all out attack, they'd have to move through Indonesia and the Chinese hate Muslims which is the major religion of that country. They'd be too busy fighting people who nearly match them in numbers, once again buying the aussies some time. Next step is New Guinea, which the Japanese can tell you is not exactly a delightful avenue of attack considering they lost over three thousand South Sea Marines to the Aussies.

I think when it comes to Australia, we're just as paranoid as the US. I know for a fact there's several bunkers underneath Canberra, and in light of the rapid development of technology, Australia's agricultural and mining industries would have experience an extensive boon generating enough government wealth to probably buy and install Vault-Tech installations throughout Australia.

Moral to the story is; if the US had time to be that Paranoid, so did we.

Personally I'd be interested in a story based on a similar order to the BoS being formed from the descendants of the presumed families of the Australian SAS and 1st Commando Regiment guys who possibly survived.

I wouldn't see them wearing Power Armour like the BoS however, probably some modified version.

Plenty of stories to tell throughout the world.
