No auto Aim ? Why ?

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 4:24 am

Thank god there's no autoaim. This is the ONLY thing Crytek got right in the PC version of the game. DON"T YOU DARE put it back in Crytek if you release another patch.

It's time the complainers got some real skill.

Read the post by CryTom! He said autoaim was taken out "due to overwhelming community feedback."

If they can put it in for Controllers only, that would be fair. Why should controller users be punished for cheating/hacking kb/mouse users. There has got to be a way to make it function on the controller only. I think it is safe to say that the kb/mouse has a major advantage over the controller. How is point and click still fun to you guys. I am guessing most of you are younger kids or just hate consoles. There is a reason why CONTROLLERS have been associated with video games. Did you ever think that may there is a reason they don't implement point & click, I mean kb/mouse on the PS3, XBOX360, and a majority of all consoles. Why is change or acceptance so hard for you guys? We're not asking you to use a mac mouse. I think you'd be suprised at how many people use controllers on your PC nowadays. It just seems that the developers are the roadblock now. FIND A WAY TO MAKE IT WORK OR LOSE THE PLAYER. Battlefield BC2 is a perfect example, no controller support netted alot of complaints. Hell, make a controller only server, whatever. I see this topic has digressed. Too bad.

I know. What did they expect us to say? Oh joy, aimbots?

Thinking back about the demo, I can now see how some of those "CHEATERS!" were getting consistent head shots at 200 meters with full auto / no recoil. "Aim assist" FTW. Learn some skill, kiddies.

So what did they expect US to say? Oh joy, I can't hit **** anymore?

You must be "special" or something if you can't differ Aim assist from a aimbot. Get some skill? Mouse players just need to click on someones head to kill them.

soooo.....if it's so easy with mouse and keyboard wny would you not use it again???

Heres a question, why is it that you come from a console, and complain that you can not be competitive, and its ok. But if a PC gamer, goes to a console and says well this controler is crap give me a mouse and keyboard, they all tell him to stuff it and dont listen?

Knowing this why do you expect us to act diffrently?

Seriously?! What is the primary use of the mouse and keyboard? I am pretty sure it is not gaming. Gaming with a mouse and keyboard was a convenience back in the day. Point and click games and such. If you wanted to play a video game, you used a controller. How many games utilized the mouse and kb setup since the Atari 2600 on.
The primary use of the keyboard is......wait for it.......typing. Whoa...... (I guess Typing of the dead is an exception)
The primary use of the mouse is desktop navigation.
PC games conformed to this so people did not have to spend money on a controller to play games, therefore, selling more games.
Developers are afraid to break the mold. At this point, I am not saying it should be controller only, but at least bring us to the same playing field.

You realize the alot of PC only games have so many actions bound to keys that you CAN'T use a controller. Hell, one of my faves (the ArmA series, which would make console gamers cry) pretty much used the entire keyboard. Going the way of a controller limits possibilities and interaction with the world and turns gaming into...well, console casual crap.

It has been stated many times by multiple controller users in this thread. It has better ergonomics and is more enjoyable to play with. Also is it offered as a supported input device. So therefore it shouldn't put me at a disadvantage if I choose to use it. Their patching process is obviously the same as their quality control... an afterthought. Because if they would have plugged in a controller before releasing the game they would have realized that it is now useless to play with.

Well good thing for us this game was design to support the controller. Now all they have to do is balance it.

This thread should be lock when the issue is resolved and ALL of their customers are happy. Only the KB+M guys are satisfied which this patch. They did there job to make you happy now they have to come up with a solution for us.

CRYTEK, there are plenty of solutions to make everyone happy just need to figure out which one is the best method.

Indeed, Auto aim is a Console affair, And there is ENOUGH of that in this PC release to choke on already . Learn to mouse and keys imo, I started with Doom where you couldnt even aim up or down! Then Old duke nukem . mouse aiming and key steering did feel akward.. I practiced, learned, and now could not imagine playing any other game {other than a flight sim or racing sim}
Any other way , it would be a huge step back.
This game is no exception.. Its a first person shooter so of course i want the most responsive and accurate control system possible.
That system is a mouse and keyboard.

So I guess I have these statements then:

1) Why should I be demoted to console graphics if I like to use a controller?
You can , Microsoft will gladly sell you a Usb Controller

2) It is really hard to fit my 62" 3D Samsung DLP on my computer stand.
Buy an HDMI cable, i have a 60 footer and it cost less than 60 bucks. Wireless mouse and keys have been out for years, same with controllers

3) If you guys are so good with a kb/mouse, why are you so scared of Auto Aim for controllers (sounds like fanboyism to me)
Because its not skill your relying on at that point, but a computer assist.

4) I can't get the leather couch to wrap around my computer desk properly.
Again i refer you to the cable, furthermore I know a lot of people that have set up thier home PCs with a "Home entertainment system" Design and they seem to have no problem at all on thier Couches and lounge chairs with pc interface.

Face the facts guys, with no new consoles in the forseeable future, controllers are a MUST for PC gaming. If you want to stick with the KB/mouse (oldschool), maybe you should keep to Diablo/Sim games.
Your Arguments or statements are inaccurate, They are indeed developing new console platforms as we speak "albeit not openly " such as it was with the last Gen.

Give me auto aim online (it is in SP) so I can show these kb/mouse fanboyz how to shoot!
If you want to play with the superior hardware , svck it up and learn how to use it.

I've got a Logitech rumble pad controller, it's design is based on the Playstation dual anologue controllers. I bought it because I always thought that the Playstation controller was the best design and most comfortable. It's great for racing games and Tomb Raider. But for FPS games you simply can't beat Keyboard and mouse. It's the most accurate and efficient way to play. You need decent equipment if you take gaming seriously, personally I have the Logitech G15 Keyboard and a Logitech G9 mouse that I use with a Steelseries S&S Mouse Mat. And for flight sims I use a decent Thrustmaster Joystick. If people play all their games with a console style controller on a PC then... well they are in a minority, and hence the 'majority' doesn't wish auto aim to be implemented.

Did Vapus call a controller, for which apparently there is a need for computer assistance to use, superior hardware? I might have laughed a stitch into my side.

I guess that's why I was being killed by players I couldn't even see in the demo. Only pussies play with auto aim. Isn't marksmanship the whole point to first person shooter. I've always hated hackers who used auto aim but thats why they give us real gamers the knife.

Well now its an UNFAIR advantage to use a keyboard and mouse against a controller player. So there has to be a happy medium and taking aim assist out of the game completely is not that solution.

Just like it's unfair to have a 16:9 monitor over a 4:3? Just like it's unfair to have an nVidia GeForce 580 versus a Geforce 9800? This argument is going back to Battlefield 2 stupidity.

stumbling upon this i ask myself, why wasnt the console made a part of this auto aim boycott? it really should be. too many newbs rockin lock on...once you figure the game out, it doesnt take much skill to kill someone. hard to miss once that aim assist kicks in.

If you wanted a Console game, get Crysis 2 on console or GTFO!

I hate that all new games now have autoaim where you can spin around like a ............ insert something there. Its dumb and should have never been added to console games. Look at Halo 1, It was fun and challenging without autoaim. Autoaim is a crutch and should not be used ever.
You've obviously never played MGO.
