No auto Aim ? Why ?

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 6:05 am

Face the facts guys, with no new consoles in the forseeable future, controllers are a MUST for PC gaming. If you want to stick with the KB/mouse (oldschool), maybe you should keep to Diablo/Sim games.

Give me auto aim online (it is in SP) so I can show these kb/mouse fanboyz how to shoot!

i think some ones begging to be flamed so ill give you it K/B will all ways be better than controllers you don't have limited aim like controllers do also keyboards have more buttons and makes it tank less time to switch weapons on use other functions also your give me auto aim to show the kb/mouse people how to shoots just pointing out that you svck at shooting only one here that's a fan boy is you ok even controller fans know Kb/mouse is better.

no...thats not what my mommy said

I am so happy to be a contributer to this thread. I hope it goes down in PC gaming history. I have reverted to answering things at this threads level of maturity.

I play on xbox and could care less about auto aim. Infact maybe it would give some of these pathetic players I go against an edge. My average the other day was 5 out of 6 rounds I was top in the game. Maybe switching to the of would give me more competition. What do you think

I disagree on a point you made. Yes, the mouse is quicker at aiming, but it's simply not true that a keyboard is better than a gamepad controller.

Do you really believe that a person with a flat keyboard with so many keys can select buttons quicker than a gamepad? Unless you are "cheating" with macros, by the time you fiddle around looking down to hover your hand over a desired key, the controller user will have already selected his option even with his eyes closed.

I think that is one of the main benefits of controllers that kb/mouse users fail to acknowledge. The keyboard simply can never in a million years compete with the ergonomics of a handheld game controller where your fingers are always ergonically in reach of the buttons. You don't have to mess about looking away from the screen to find buttons like on a keyboard. A mouse has it speed of aiming benefits, but the keyboard is a total fail at gaming. Strafing on a keyboard cannot come close to the anologue stick strafing on a controller. Also, you can close your eyes with a controller and know where all the buttons are. This is partly why controllers will always have more popularity in the world than keyboard gaming. The keyboard is clunky and requires frequent eye glances to find keys, especially keys that your WASD hand is not currently hovering over. Face the facts. The keyboard is not a very attractive gaming peripheral and controllers are relaxing. You can stand up with a controller without having to pause a game. You can walk around the room and still game with the controller. You can sit back down on the sofa and still game in total relaxation in any position you feel comfortable. Try that with a Keyboard and Mouse.

I am not saying the mouse doesn't have benefits. What I am doing is showing you guys that there is a general ignorance on this thread regarding why people want to play with a controller. I know that I can use a mouse and target quicker. Yes that is true. But that does not make me a better or more skillful player. If you really want to demontrate skills and feel proud of yourself, then use a controller.

Anyone can use a high DPI mouse and "become good". It's not your skill that is doing it, it's the mouse. With a controller, you have to have skill to aim.

The other point you guys are missing about why people want to use a controller is related to its more social benefits and relaxed comfortable ergonomic designs versus the clunkiness of the keyboard, carpel tunnel syndrome of the mouse, and the discomfort of spending hours hovering your fingers over WASD like a ballerina, playing twister over hundreds of other similar-shaped keys spread out all over the keyboard.

These are the reasons why a controller is soooooo much more enjoyable to use.

@everyone playing with a gamecontroller: Practise on playing with a controller without auto aim. I'm playing with a 360-controller, too and after a few hours of training I had no problems with playing against Mouse+Keyboard users.
So...just practise and you will never need that option. Oh...and try to adjust your controller-sensibility if you think it moves too fast.

Hope this helps

this is so much fun, keep this thread alive, it make me laugh every time

ok im replying the troll comment:

following your logic, everyone must look the keys while they're writing (maybe you already are? :D), and you must look at your gamepad buttons, news for you! its called muscular memory, your body learn where is every key, do you really think K/M users look at the keyboard everytime they want to do something?

aside from that, with a keyboard we can press 17 keys wich are near to the wasd movement keys, all on one hand, how many buttons has your gamepad?

Well, it's not just simply "my logic". It's a fact. The gamepad is simply more of a social gaming device, it's convenient, ergonomical and extremely relaxing to use.

Even if you have managed to memorize the exact location of all your keys on your keyboard without ever making a mistake or looking down, or wasting time to feel around and make sure you are about to press the correct key, you are kidding yourself if you believe that a keyboard user can select keys quicker than a handheld controller user can press the buttons on his advanced ergonomically designed controller.

Not only is the controller so much easier to use, but it is also much more comfortable. So, that means no carpel tunnel syndrome, and no hours of hovering your "WASD-key" fingers, twisting over each other like a ballerina to reach other keys. If my arms get tired of staying in the same position while using a controller, I can even lift my arms up in the air and continue to game. I can walk around the room and continue to game. Try that with the keyboard and mouse. They are just stuck in one fixed position. Sorry, the mouse has its quick aiming benefits, but it is also nowhere near as relaxing and enjoyable to use. The keyboard, to be honest, is the best peripheral for text input, but probably the most poorly designed gaming input device in the history of mankind for any game that moves any faster than EA's Sims game.

So, if you ask me why I always play PC games with a controller, even though I can turnaround and aim quicker with a mouse, the main answer is because it's so much more of a friendly and logical gaming device that is social, relaxing, ergonomic and enjoyable to use. Even if you came home with a super 200,000,000,000 DPI mouse, it would not make the smallest difference to the enjoyability. Your aiming may well end up being faster (because of the mouse and not your skills), but it will not put the enjoyability factor of the mouse and keyboard on the level of the handheld controller. No way will that ever happen.

is this guy dumb or something
he's getting owned by everyone using a mouse and keyboard and is trying to defend that a controller is better.
he says we need to look at what buttons we press, that is just the stupidest thing i've heard since "what does KB mean?" we don't look it's just natural

he says it's quicker to press the buttons on a controller, well if he thought for a second, what is actually pressing the buttons on a controller:
you got triggers i.e. the mouse so that doesn't count
you got ABXY pressed by only the right thumb
you got right anologue stick/r3 pressed by right thumb
left thumb is left stick and d-pad

go look at a keyboard - we use all 5 fingers easily, with about 1-2 buttons per finger

go turn off your stealth mode and shoot or put on armour mode while aiming down sights, oh yeah, you can't because it's on the trigger . . . dumbass

"Give me auto aim online (it is in SP) so I can show these kb/mouse fanboyz how to shoot!" - statement of an idiot. . . i think the word he can't read or understand is AUTO. . . which means it does it on it's own and has nothing to do with you, without it, you can't shoot for ****.

pc gaming is not social gaming like how you do on an xbox, it's not made for more than one person per comp in most cases, it is for "Gamers" which is what we are, not retards like you, who can't even play a game without complaining about something that shouldn't be complained about.

last note, "I can even lift my arms up in the air and continue to game. I can walk around the room and continue to game. Try that with the keyboard and mouse. They are just stuck in one fixed position"

loooool, you either need a slap or to get an iq test to confirm retardation - now try this for me: stand up, turnaround, bend over and shove that controller in your ass, play it from inside your rectum, something else that a keyboard can't do . . . =( how saw
what idiot is going to walk around his room and play crysis on a monitor/tv what idiot would do that with any fps game

dumbass, go die some more

I love this, does Crytek even monitor their forums? I never realized how helpful "shoving a controller up my ass and playing in my rectum" would be. You appear to be the advlt version of the Halo kids. Congrats, you're an older moron.

Easy because M/K peoples cannot face the fact the gamepad is more superior when tune it properly.

Even Bungie has stated that Halo games use about 4 different aim assists...

1) Autoaim - if you are close enough to the target, you will hit.
2) Gravity - the game "pulls" your aim towards a target you are close to
3) Acceleration - you accelerate from 0 to the speed your anolog press says you are going so you dont accidently zip past your target
4) Friction - the turn slows down over a valid target to help you stop where you need to.

So that feeling of superiority you feel? Yeah.... it's not. It's the game helping you. And if the game is helping you, it's NOT superior. Sorry.

this thread is full of fail and win! we should hold a competition gamepads team vs keyboard/mouse team? A final end it all game to find which interface is better. but there must be a level playing field based on skillful maipulation of your interface device. no auto aim for both devices. maybe some keyboard/mouse/gamepad company would want to sponsor such an event?

it would quiten teh gamepad kiddies. for a while..

Hi there,

Due to an overwhelming response regarding auto-aim from the PC demo, the decision was made to remove support for auto-aim (not gamepads completely) because of the unfair advantage it may give players and the chances of it being exploited. This change was part of our day 1 patch as listed here: http://www.gamesas.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=10951

Thanks!

So now mouse and keyboard have an unfair advantage...
