No auto Aim ? Why ?

Post » Thu Jun 02, 2011 11:52 pm

I would like to start off by saying i was a console gamer and just moved to PC gaming and i dont like the feeling of a keyboard (not the mouse) ...

I really enjoy playing your game and playing it on a console is not an option im willing to take due to the responsiveness and frame rate. But the reason i enjoyed your game demo was because i could compete and be a competitor with the PC crowd with a joystick and as of right now i lose 9 out of every 10 gun fights. So im just asking if you can really consider re adding auto aim because the mouse is FAR superior to the controller in terms of being more accurate and was a real smart idea adding the feature it in the demo. The feeling of playing an FPS with a joystick without auto aim just feels so " alien." I just want to end off by saying it didn't feel Overpowered at all in the demo i still died as mush as the next guys but now its a whole different story i say it was fair with the auto aim please bring it back...

Auto aim makes you a god with a crappy control system. It allows you to be lazy and get head shots by aiming five feet to the right of their head. Crytek was dumb for even having it in at all. You should read the box of the original Crysis.

Adapt or Perish.

This is an example of the needs of the majority outweighing the needs of the minority.

The whole damn point of PC gaming is mouse and keyboard, actual skill, and no auto aim. Letting people like you enjoy yourselves is what consoles are for.

If this OP's post doesn't sum up why console gamers are generally disliked in these situations, I don't know what else would.

If they made an option for servers to be able to have it on or off then everyone would be happy. I prefer the controller because I too switched over to PC because of the dedicated servers and smoother gameplay. Keyboard and Mouse players aren't the only people that prefer to play with superior graphics and with no stupid player host based system. But I'll stick it out with the controller since I really haven't used the mouse and keyboard in the 10 years I have played FPS's. But man it is tough to compete against a solid KB+M player compared to the demo.

Get yourself a nice mouse with a good mouse-mat and practise. It will take a while to get proficient with it but in the long run you will be a better player for it if you are going to stick to PC FPS games :)

It's already been stated why having the auto aim is retarded. Another reason why I'm glad it's gone is because I heard you could exploit the function. People could just plug in a joystick (like an X-BOX 360 controller for example) and still play using mouse + keyboard. So they were apparently having better maneuverability by not playing with joysticks whilst having the benefits of auto aim.

So I guess I have these statements then:

1) Why should I be demoted to console graphics if I like to use a controller?
2) It is really hard to fit my 62" 3D Samsung DLP on my computer stand.
3) If you guys are so good with a kb/mouse, why are you so scared of Auto Aim for controllers (sounds like fanboyism to me)
4) I can't get the leather couch to wrap around my computer desk properly.

Face the facts guys, with no new consoles in the forseeable future, controllers are a MUST for PC gaming. If you want to stick with the KB/mouse (oldschool), maybe you should keep to Diablo/Sim games.

Give me auto aim online (it is in SP) so I can show these kb/mouse fanboyz how to shoot!

If you're willing, there's plenty of different keyboards that might be a little better for gaming if you're all picky about having a keyboard under your hand. But honestly don't expect to see this implemented, because a) nobody likes it, and PC gaming is exactly so you can escape that; b) if you're playing with a controller, don't expect to be at the same level of a mouse and keyboard regardless of aim assist or not; c) even with that thing implemented, 9 out of 10 times you'll still get your ass handed to you. There's only so much aim assist/auto-aim can help and even that isn't enough to compete against a mouse user.

Don't expect to race with a Fiat against a Lamborghini and be on even footing, even less winning. Even if you overhaul it's engine entirely, it's still a Fiat.

The best you can do, is simply keep using a keyboard and get used to it. I absolutely garantee you that after that, you won't ever want to go back to a controller.

If you want to game on the PC, learn to use the PC controls. Gamepads are good for fighting, racing and action games, but every other genre like RTS or FPS? Learn to use the mouse and keyboard. Fix your sensitivity and experiment to what suits you and practice.

I play mainly on PC and svck on consoles, but I love Killzone 3 on PS3. I got my ass handed numerous times because I hate using the controller, but I adapted, and after practice, I'm doing pretty decent with it. Auto Aim is terrible for a PC game, and it's removal is a proper decision by Crytek.

4) I can't get the leather couch to wrap around my computer desk properly.

1) Like I said in my previous post, you could apparently exploit the function. Also, if I wanted to play with aimbotters, I'd fight hackers...

2) So?

3) Not fanboyism. Logic. Ignoring the supposed problem of being able to have auto aim and still use keyboard + mouse, auto aim itself is a cheap and lazy function. Why bother play the game if you have it aim for you? Get skills and learn to shoot.

4) If you want to play so badly with a joystick, then maybe you should just play this on a console. We come to PC for the keyboard + mouse (amongst other things). It sounds like that's the kind of thing you don't want, so why get it on PC for better graphics? Gameplay > Graphics.

Face the facts guys, with no new consoles in the forseeable future, controllers are a MUST for PC gaming. If you want to stick with the KB/mouse (oldschool), maybe you should keep to Diablo/Sim games.

What facts? What does having no new consoles have to do with anything? There is still X-BOX 360 and PS3. So your statement doesn't even make sense. If you want to use a joystick so bad, then why not just stick with the consoles...

Give me auto aim online (it is in SP) so I can show these kb/mouse fanboyz how to shoot!

You wouldn't be teaching us how to shoot. You'd be letting the game do it for you.

Well, since your a console gamer coming to PC, I'll give you a good explanation. On PC, auto-aim is a CHEAT. No server admin is his right mind would ever let that on. We call it an aimbot. Its a total cheat. If you want to play on PC, your going to have to learn to use the keyboard and mouse. You'll find they can do much more than a gamepad ever could.

It might as well be Knownkillah. What you are describing is pretty much an aimbotting function. I want to fight people who have to actually aim themselves and NOT have the game do it for them.

You're also ignoring how there was people pissed on these forums at the supposed use of keyboard + mouse WITH the auto aim. Why? Cause you could apparently just plug in the joystick and not even use it, but have the aiming benefit...

Using a keyboard & mouse may seem foreign at first if you're coming from a console, but really, you will quickly get used to it.

Compared to a controller, a Kb/mouse is far more precise, allowing your hand to eye coordination to be more accurate and efficient. Even if you had auto aim with your controller, you still would always be at a disadvantage compared to Kb/mouse users, so why put yourself there?

So throw that controller albatross off your back, give yourself a leg up, and train yourself on how to properly use the keyboard and mouse. It will be to your best advantage in the long run as far as PC gaming goes.

1) You shouldn't, but that's the downside of using a console. One of the useful things of a PC is the versatility. While you are able to use a controller, don't expect having an aim assist while playing in competitive environments where the standard is a mouse and keyboard.

2) Irrelevant. It's hard to fit my 35-ton male Sperm Whale on my desktop.

3) Because auto-aim is a mechanic that is an assist similar to racing games that use ABS or assisted braking. People on the PC expect everyone to be playing without that assist in the competitive environment. I've seen people using the aim assist while using a mouse, and really it is a crutch. There's been a number of times where the only reason it's worked is because of that minor snap, and people pick up on it.

4)I can't get my snake to wrap around my chair properly.

Face the facts guys, with no new consoles in the forseeable future, controllers are a MUST for PC gaming. If you want to stick with the KB/mouse (oldschool), maybe you should keep to Diablo/Sim games.

Controllers are fine in any game, but the bottom line is that assists that console FPS players rely on are not accepted nor wanted in the PC market. If you want to play online with a controller, that's all fine and dandy, but don't expect the environment to change simply because you use a controller.

Keyboards and Mice work fine for the PC platform, have for years with support for Joysticks and Gamepads working for certain types of games. This is what makes the PC superior in terms of input.
