Auto eating mod

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 1:45 pm

Is there a hunger mod that can go through your inventory and automatically eat any viable food items unless in combat? If there's one thing an immersion loving person like me can't stand it's going into the menu all the time just to eat an apple every few minutes but I don't want to give up the realism of having to eat.

I would guess that if you need to "eat an apple every few minutes", your timescale is set too high. Try a setting of 10.

Well, I was exaggerating a bit it is set to 10 I always have it set that way. I was just making my point that it's immersion breaking to have to go into the menu all the time to eat, and having it automatically do it for me so long as I have food in my inventory doesn't break the point of a hunger mod because you still get penalized for not having any food.

So any suggestions as to where I might find such a thing if it exists?

Huh? I said I don't have to eat that much....I just don't like having to go into the menu to do it and I want to find a mod that will automatically eat any food I have when I'm hungry to avoid breaking the immersion without sacrificing the hunger mod. Is that clear enough?

Frankly, automatic eating sounds more "immersion breaking" to me. I've definitely never heard of such a mod, sorry.

Yeah but I don't find the menu screen all that immersive either.. to each his own I suppose  .
I suppose this might be a wild goose chase, damn my incompetant brain that can't understand the simplest script :banghead: otherwise I would just make it myself.

I wonder if it could be tweaked to work with real hunger then it would be perfect.

I believe Kuertee's hunger mod added auto-eating in the last update.... http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=24605. Yep, it has auto-eat.

Can you hotkey ingredients? Could be a compromise solution. :)

Thanks, although I don't know how much I like the idea of cleaned food, cold food, cooked food, etc it does have what I wanted so I'll give it a try. Cheers :foodndrink:

Well, to me it sounds awesome. Imagine being interrupted in combat by a messagebox saying: "You try to counter his blows, but your arm is weakened and your mind dispersed by your body's constant screams for nourishments.", accompanied by a debuff. Then when combat ends, if you defeated the guy: "With a massive effort, you've vanquished your adversary in spite of your hunger. Relieved, you open your backpack and partake in a satisfying meal." A lot of food items are removed from your inventory. If instead you fled combat, the message reads "You decided to retreat and gather your strength before returning to fight once again. As you munch on a tasty (insert random food item from inventory), you think through various strategies for use in the battle ahead." Only one item is removed, and there's no debuff.

I am glad you think it sounds awesome, but actually, what you described sounds like just what I would find completely "un-immersive". I don't like the idea of a phantom narrator describing to me what I am already watching myself do, and telling "me" how I feel. It would make me feel removed from my character, and wondering where the hell this invisible windbag is.

But anyway, that isn't really the point of the thread, is it? I'm just glad that there's a mod out there that does this, because if someone else comes along looking for the same thing, I have a recommendation now. ;)

Message boxes are really counter-intuitive to what I wanted, which is just the game automatically eating food when I'm hungry unless I'm in combat or have no food with no messages whatsoever other than eating noises and stomach growling or something.
