Autoaim ruining the fun

Post » Fri May 08, 2009 2:47 pm

Hey,

i've encountered to many people using autoaim, for me this is really frustrating because it gives a huge unfair advantage

Autoaim should only be allowed in "singel player mode"

What is the point in using autoaim all you have too do is put the crosshair on the enemy and the crosshair will follow the target untill killed that means all you have to do is using the "fire" button.

I don't see the fun in letting the game do things for you.

In my option: "Autoaim are for pvssys"

People who use auto aim just like looking at all those big numbers next to their name, they don't care about playing.

Well if its in the game you cant really complain for people using it because then if they stop using it, it would be unfair for them if they face other people who are using it. You cant change the community but what you can do is tell crytek to remove it because it reduces the skill required to play the game also making it noob-friendly.

But as long as they get high sales i doubt they'll listen kinda of like black ops who doesnt give 2 fs about the comunity.

I'd like it heavily toned-down or removed, but no way am I gonna stop using it if everyone else carries on.

You don't prove a point by being the only person not using the advantage.. you just lose.

I really haven't found auto-aim to be all that intrusive. Unlike call of duty wen you can see and feel it move your reticle for you, I haven't felt its influence in C2. But you go ahead an turn it off if you like man. if this is your biggest beef with Crysis 2 then count yourself lucky.

BTW how can you tell if someone has auto aim enabled anyway?

They should have an autoaim on/off filter, that way if you want it on you can play with others that have it, and if you don't they could filter it so you'd only be matched up with other people that aren't using it. Or maybe if they set it up so only the "new recruit" lobbies have it enabled.
If you still need autoaim after level 10, maybe fps's aren't for you lol.

maybe consoles aren't for you, because aim assists are a feature in all console fps's, with most not havin the option to turn it off. its there to bridge the gap between the lack of precision from a controller vs a mouse.

if you dont like aim assist, then go play at your desk with a mouse and keyboard

Like your idea,

Sunny Leguna:
you can see if people use autoaim if the aim moves weird, compared to non autoaimers

Besides you can still win against autoaimers but sometimes they are unpredictable,

like you don't know if there aim will instantly focus on you or not

Lol. Thanks for the tips, I guess? I wasn't complaining about the use of it, I was just stating that they should have an autoaim lobby filter for people like the OP, seeing how he doesn't like it, and I'm sure there's lot of others that don't like it as well. Autoaim doesn't bug me one bit.
In the meantime, I'll stick to my console, thanks (;

i dont like it myself, but i admit i do use it. only because without it, i would be at a disadvantage against pretty much EVERYONE else... but i definitely wish they would scrap auto aim after lvl 10 or even 20 or so. do it like they did with the new recruits games. let those with true skill have their games. but then the wimps and casual gamers would just bich about how they have to keep making new accounts to play online due to having their ass handed to them after the level threshold lol

So a kill-cam with the enemy using aim-assist looks weird, yet someone without aim-assist looks normal??? Well if thats the case then I haven't seen one player NOT using aim-assist because they ALL look weird.

Anyway the auto-aim filter is a bad idea becasue it splits the player base for no good reason, leading to even more lag than we have now.

If you wanted Crysis 2 to have the best connectivity possible and lowest pings (on a p2p system) you would have one playlist, say team Instant action. Thast becasue everyone plugged in can connect to everyone else, giving the best chance of good connections and low pings. Problem is it would be boring only having one game mode. So they have to balance the number of playlists with the number of people playing to enable decent pings.

This is why Call of Duty with its huge player base has the largest number of playlists, while KZ3 has 3. The huge number of people playing can support those playlists and still have playable pings.

So splitting the player base for something as inconsequential as "auto-aim" is a bad idea.

Haha, that makes sense, Sunny. I just didn't want you to get the wrong idea like I was trying to bash on the auto aim and what not.
One thing I wish they did (much like COD) is to put the number of active users in each particular playlist. That way I know if I at least have a shot of getting connected to someone somewhere.

well, if i had it enabled this whole time, i DEFINITELY have not been using it (lol, oxymoron)

i mean, i have to check if its enabled but i will be surprised if it is cause all the aiming i've been doing manually. i've had times where enemies ran past me yet nothing helped me. i just did a regular jump shot, turn around, and search for him, shoot him, kill him.
im 110% sure that auto-aim isnt helping me, cause my screen hasnt jerked to a side once i saw an enemy and it doesnt follow targets.....

The fundamental argument here would make much more sense if Aim Assist wasn't enabled by default.

Also, these voting options are a little biased, no?

lol yeah they are a bit biased. sound like an idiot at the cost of holding fast to your values, or go with the owners trend lol but, to be expected with something like this. its a prestige thing i suppose.

i think you are missing the point bob. the point is that we dont like that YOU use it... ("you" meaning the populace that agreeably uses the feature) we want to turn it off, but it would mean a SERIOUS impairment on our part. anyone that turns off auto aim when everyone else on the map is using it is either super skilled, or a damn fool... and either will be apparent in his score sheet. lol but with newbs whipping around 180 degree shots at inhuman speeds never losing their "tracking", its going to be hard to contend with no matter how skilled you are... i mean after all, how can you compete with the perfection of a computer?

I think what you want is a dictatorship you and the rest of the people on here want to enforce your views on how to play the game on us all. further more you all want to take choice away from the players and that is wrong. who in the hell says just because you do not like something gives you to right to demand for it to be removed. People have a right to play the game how ever they chose. It is a option in the game that can be disabled at anytime.

Haven't tried online yet, but how about turning it into a room option, so it's either ON or OFF for all in the room. That way anyone can play it online the way they want it, either with or without auto-aim, just join rooms with or without. :)

thats even worse No that would be forced separation of the player base. Its a choice and people have a right to make a choice to either use or not . as I said it can be disabled. you people can not restrict choice and people 's right to play the game they want to. Its wrong and borders on slavery when it comes to online gaming. Crytek better leave it in the game or online gaming might as well be a modern form of slavery where the only way to play is under the rules of a certain few that believe their way of playing the game is the only way.
