I find automatic weapons to go really great along the steady aim perk. Plus, what are you going to do when you get attacked by swarms of extremey fast enemies like ghouls? Shoot them with the slow ass non-automatic weapon? Hell no. You either blast them with a shotgun or backpedal and dakka dakka the hell out of them with a machine gun.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the damage displayed for weapons are per bullet. That means even if the listed damage is lower than semi-auto, your overall dps is gonna be higher. I think the general rule is that semi autos have a lower dps but are more accurate and have better range vs. higher rate of fire and damage on full auto.

It's the enchantment that makes the weapon good, not the weapon itself. Legendary effects are the only thing making automatics worth using. They have a poor accuracy, so their DPS suffers enormously in practical usage.

Only noobs can't realize the finer points of game balance.

I use different Tools (Guns) for different jobs.

If I'm exploring the waste out in the open then, I'm usually using my Decked-Out Short-Barrel Combat Rifle & Decked Out Silenced 10mm Pistol & Grenades.

If I'm exploring a building or something of the like then, I'm using Spray&Pray & Combat Shoty (possibly 10mm Silence if I'm trying to keep stealth)

The full auto weapons definitely have way too low DPS.

Having said that, I've got a submachine gun that has some sort of bleeding modification to it. Not the spray and pray either. No idea what it is. It destroys enemies though.

Well i can fire 80 rounds with my semi auto rifle in less than 16 seconds,and considering it has +25% damage and +25% limb damage legen traits along with being fairly accurate from the hip it can easily deal with any larger group of enemies i come across.Ghouls are so simple,hip fire looking slightly downwards,legs go bye bye.I am playing very hard though,not survival.

I just never felt that i needed a full auto for anything,i mean if the game actually threw 50 enemies at me at the one time,then maybe...
