Automatron DLC Is AMAZING! What Do You Think?

Post » Thu Mar 31, 2016 12:11 am

Agreed, agreed, agreed, I may just be an unsophisticated old man, but for me, this is a whole new game. My only regret is it didn't come out sooner during the slow season for people who work outside in the weather.

I hope I can live in the new settlement when I am done with the quest line. it cleans up great where you have debris scrapping abilities. Hope to be able to expand the ability to the entire complex.

This is everything I hoped for with the original mechanist and ant-agonizer. I owe a debt of gratitude to like-minded gamers who've spoken out about their similar wish more could have been done with that opportunity back then, and since.

I would like to see DLC or mods that allow you to do more with your bots, like have them help scrap, build and repair stuff. Wouldn't have to be detailed system resource consuming animation, but them in the background working on the stuff you select and place from a menu.

(Maybe you can, I haven't had time to try, I am also doing work for the Minutemen and BoS.)

For old time gamers a long time away from gaming due to the responsibilities of middle age, it is not so easy to accept magical pockets you can fit a long arm or missile launcher in, or magical single scrapping and building without tools or other helping hands.

I bought the season pass back in October, and I really want to play Automatron, but I think I'm cursed. My old computer broke right after I purchased it, so I bought a new laptop. Happily played F4 for 5 months and as soon as I downloaded Automatron and tried to play it, the temperatures on my laptop skyrocketed until I thought it was going to melt. It was running so hot - 71 to 79 degrees Celcius. So sadly, I have to wait until I hear from the company support ticket to see if I can get it fixed.

Apologies for the moaning ... wish I could join in the fun/rant.

Get real there is nothing to this DLC. Were talking about a DLC that can be beat in 1 hr. That adds 2 locations to the game. Big deal if they added crafting robots. Seriously it takes 2 minutes tops to craft a robot! I think you guys are forgetting the Quality of Fallout 3 DLC. Look at The Pitt a whole new area to explore with 10 hrs of game play with new weapons and armor! Look at the Witcher 3 DLC $9.99 and it adds 10+ hours of gameplay and new weapons and armor..

Funny, I guess the new enemies, missions, dialogue, weapons and armor must have glitched out for you.

We don't know how hard or time consuming it is to make stuff like this, hence why we don't choose the price.

I'm on a similar boat but to me, it depends on the game and developer (for games, at least). For example, with Bethesda's games, I'm not really looking for story, dialogue, etc. I'm more looking for the freedom-roleplaying and open world parts of their games, which is what Bethesda does best.

You are correct. I think most people here can easily think up of the exact same examples.

Get real, all of Fallout 3 DLC had that and all the DLC added huge areas to explore. If your happy with low quality subpar DLC then so be it. But I am not happy with it. I got ripped off! If I would have known the DLC could be beat in 1hr and only added 2 locations. I would have not bought it!

"Get real"

You didn't get ripped off, you got what was advertised. Wasteland Workshop won't be like that either. If you want dlc with a big story, wait until May and get Far Harbor.

If you feel like you got something miniscule, then it's your fault for downloading it, as it was never advertised as a story expansion.

The DLC's time is more about 3-5 hours. I think it could only be 1 hour if you're godmodding on the PC with mini-nukes.

If you really wanna compare DLC, Automatron is the same size as of Fallout 3's Anchorage DLC. Same price. Both were the first DLC for their respective games... And yes, roughly the same size.

~Edit~

I've done the Anchorage quest in about 2-3 hours myself and Automatron in about 3-4 for the record.

yeah something selling well is a failure. Dude you live in the dream that success is base on something different. The only stuff that meter on this world is unites sells. That what make a company to make a sequel or keep adding stuff to a game.

You rigth, that is one type of DLC. you paid 10$ and u get 5hs (sorry HoS was not close to 10hs+), but at the same time you get 0 add to the main quest, and also you get a quest tottaly disconnect from the MQ on a game, where you are running to find someone.

Or you get a DLC, with a short story (that wasnt market as a story DLC), that add new companion, new armor, new weapons, and new options to keep playing the core game.

Both game can cost the same.

He has a point. The Matrix 2 broke bank on sales, but was absolutely garbage.

Though it's not always the case, as the recent Deadpool movie finally broke the Matrix 2's sales record :P

Companions are worthless in this game. What good is another worthless companion? This DLC is nothing more then the horse armor in Oblivion with 2 new loctaions and it's way over priced. I can not see how people keep defending Bethesda.

Have you played Automatron or are just following along with the haters?

I started today, and my bots kill most things before I even draw my rifle, not worthless.

Of course I played it, I get that you like it and that fine. But I feel ripped off and I feel that the DLC is a complete waste of money. And so do the majority of the people on Steam. Take a look at all of the bad reviews for yourself!

well but when u are part of a minority that feel ripoff there probelm is with you.

Is like the ppl saying right now that the new BvsS movie is a masterpieces. They are the minority.

u have almost 1k ppl saying they like the DLC, so isnt the majority of steam users.

I learned long ago not to listen to a thing the Fallout steam community has to say. They are probably in the same boat of not looking at what they were buying, then complaining because they assumed it was something else.

Because you're kinda being stupid (no offense). I've already pointed out that Automatron is about the same size, if not bigger, than Anchorage (FO3's first DLC), which you seem to think was "so big and amazing" (both are same price). Actually, it is bigger. Anchorage only adds 1 location to the main map and you play a short linear story in a computer basically, just to get a bunch of items that are worthless to a high level character.

-1 New Location that is worthless to go back to.

-1 Short quest. (1-2hrs)

- New Armor. New weapons.

Automatron adds like 3 new locations to the base world, a short quest about those areas, and a bunch of new items that are worthless to a high level character but still fun... BUT then we also got the robot workbench and robot customization added on top of it.

-3 New locations that aren't worthless to go back to.

-1 short quest (2-3hrs)

-New Armor. New Weapons.

-New Workbench For Customizing Robots

-New Radiant Quest

-2 New Factions Added to base game for random encounters

-Eyebot Scouts for finding ammo, explosives, and junk for ya.

...

Both are same price and yet you say that Fallout 3's DLCs are "so amazing" and "so big"...

You did say ALL after-all...

And no offense mate, everybody gets stupid from time to time. I've done so myself and I appreciate when people points my stupidity out, I'm just doing the same for ya.

I essentially paid $7.5 for AM, $3.75 for WW, and $18.75 for FH. So far $7.5 seems pretty good for AM. And the best part is that these prices will go even lower as they release more dlc.

For everyone saying it is overpriced. You had a chance to trust bethesda and make an investment through the season pass. If you chose not to, well that's just fine. But you will be paying a higher price for the dlc.

I am loving the Automatron DLC. Even without starting a character from scratch (too impatient!), just going through the content with my current Level 38 character almost feels like playing a new game again. The new characters, factions, weapons, brief-but-great story, and obviously the robot building/modding mechanic are excellent. Some of the new 'robotic mashup enemies' provide a serious challenge, even on Normal difficulty with a high-level character. That said, I have two very specific complaints ~ and while seemingly trivial, these are not tongue-in-cheek ~ they are as follows (minor spoilers):

  1. No custom Eyebot building/modding option! :cheat:

  2. (This is the biggie for me) NO PROTECTRON VOICE OPTION?! Literally the first thing I thought of when the Automatron DLC was announced (and custom voices confirmed) was how I'd be able to build my own protectron, complete with that charmingly archaic "Pro-tect and serrrve" voice. Upon carefully building my robot and going through voice options, I was needless to say, super bummed-out about the omission. :sadvaultboy:

PLEASE, Bethesda: For the love of Pete (Hines), please patch in these, and maybe a few more build/voice/paint options. Reading on Reddit, YouTube and the forums here, I know I'm not alone in this sentiment.

Otherwise, awesome DLC easily worth the $10 price of admission.

I was not really looking forward to this dlc, but I have been pleasantly surprised.

For the price of a burger .... I have enjoyed over 4 hours of fun gameplay, and I'm not finished the quest yet.

And the robot building adds another future interest for the main game.

I don't think it is ever possible to please 100% But I also think that there is a small vocal minority that can never be pleased. (unless you gave them the game for free, and perhaps a free oculus rift).

Even then we might still see "rip off" or "gamebreaking" posts.

I'm happy that Beth caters for the vast majority .

I put her in heavily armed Robobrain unit, and now she works for me in sanctuary doing scavenging.

It`s super funny because everytime she works on scavenging station she gets smaller lol.

...She still tells me to go away... but I love how she works for me while despises me. lol

Yea the dlc is solid, new raider like faction called Rust Devils and the new robots are tough but do drop good loot. I found a couple that dropped mini-nukes. But I swear getting mods at times is annoying. I've gotten several assautron heads or torsos but no legs? I want my assaultron not protectron legs ada has :(

Almost every drop I've found seems to be super basic stuff. I don't get any of the cool heads, armors, or weapons :(
