If AutoMatron is our ideal $10 DLC I'm nervous....

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2016 12:11 pm

Why is this even going around in circles like this? It's one thing to state ones opinion and move on, but certain posters seem to want to inject the same negativity again and again, thread after thread. Expressing your opinion about the DLC then moving on is cool. Going on a forum crusade to attempt to sour the wine for the rest of the forum who actually see the DLC's value isn't.

The 'critics' complain about lack of content. Yet the DLC has obviously given them hours and hours of entertainment here on the forums trying to tick off those who have the audacity to disagree with them and be happy with their purchase. How do we know they are enjoying themselves here? Because even the biggest waste of human flesh on the planet has better uses of his time than to waste it like that if it isn't a source of pleasure.

I understand someone expressing their own displeasure with a product. Attempting to convince others that they shouldn't like it either is harder to understand.

Why do people always use bad DLC to compare it against? Why not use good DLC for once?

Like what? More trite story bases DLCs, like a hundred other video games are trying to implement and saturate the market?

You lose son, Automatron and the vision Bethesda has for their games blow it away. Ka-powwwww!

Honestly, I find that this dlc is worth around $10, maybe even $15, it was pretty good. People complaining about the dlc's lack of content are looking for quantity, rather than the quality we got.

I wanna step in here and say that they added new robot armor pieces and weapons and made those things seemlessly blend in with other weapons and pieces. Plus I think I spoted a new animation for the gutsy model when getting hit. A new faction 3 new characters, locations and new robot voices Im probably over looking something else but all that for ten dollars? Thats pretty good.

Automatron could be the greatest DLC Bethesda has ever released; it still runs on a game using rotten scrambled eggs as an engine. But there will be people who praise Bethesda's every move and give them credit for such gimmicks, and then there are people who will be dissatisfied and complain. The Beth Forums never change. Their games never change. They will continue to make profit and both nay-sayers and delusionists will continue to buy the next one no matter what the opinion is. I fear for The Elder Scrolls VI. I already know it's gonna be the same sad story. It's too bad. That's my shiz.

You buy a Beth product, you already know the result.

Except that earlier their DLCs were worth the money. Well, except Murder Hobo Adventures 5: Mortgage

When i said "DLCs worth less than 10€ aren't worth anything", i didn't mean you should triple the price of those worth less than that :teehee:

These robots function great as settlers too.
I have yet to try placing one as a merchant though, and the regular followers do not operate as merchants either.

$5 for the Robot Crafting and $5 for the rest. The Robot Crafting system is about as extensive as what I expect from the Wasteland Workshop DLC.

Automatron is alright but like someone else said if you didn't like the base game due to the lack of dialogue or unique playstyle that comes from the special traits and a few other things then you probably didn't care about customizing some robots to defend some settlements and the other little things they added. The only reason fallout 4 and this dlc isn't complete trash is because it's a fallout game. It seems like everything they did in the game was done as a test to see if what they wanted to do would fit into the fallout world. Though what they did could pretty much be done in any game so except for possibly being first in a major single player game to add building and settlement managing to their game it was practically a waste of game development time. Everything major thing they did to improve the game could have came as a dlc, instead they decided to remove practically all that was good from the original games and just focus on what would make the game newly different, when all the fans really needed was a new story. So yeah when these new elements are in a new game and that game has what made playing the story good again then we will all be happy again.

All the ridiculous really devoted fan crying is the reason why people go to different posts expressing their so called "hating" views. When all you get is idiotic responses to a real and serious concern of course you should go try to find others who will give a real and serious response. This game is not 84% good reviews as someone said it is actually more like in the low 70s but because these guys have money to cover up some of the damage they've done now you've got 5 hour game time reviews saying the game was good (its actually at 80% right now).

What?? Their game completely changed and the elder scrolls series will benefit tremendously if any settlements and building elements are added. And uh idk about nah sayers giving them profits, I didn't buy the dlc after the disappointment that was fallout 4 and will not buy any new games from them if far harbor and the next elder scrolls is horrible (I also will not be buying the next elder scrolls game without seeing reviews and watching it myself, will not preorder anything from them again). Only one of my friends bought the dlc and it looks like no one else is going to so.... Anyways I hope Darksouls 3 is as good as it looks cause that $30 I saved with not buying this dlc is gonna go to their season pass if it keeps looking as good as it does.

The other fallout dlc would be worth more in my opinion even today because they added more story. Put simply, in 3 for example we saw the pitt which showed what was going on in another area at the same time along with other things. In New vegas for example dead money added to the story by revealing some more detail to the courier's overall story. Automatron lets you customize things that are practically useless( you could just arm your settlers better and get more turrets...practically horse armor with a quest they literally could have just added new armor and clothing for settlers and the new faction using the og robots and it would be the same) and you get a small quest that has little meaning oh no someone is making robots and they are killing people.. big deal........... someone made supermutants and robots and im killing them oh wait someone made more robots so I need to kill more of them too?.. waow...............

I hear talk about the Robots and Guns and Armor, but so far the thing that stuck as the "Oh, look at this!" item to me was the +1 Intelligence Goggles.

I do think it's worth the ten dollars.

I am planning a playthrough after the Survival patch goes in, and I can already see that it will be a fuller playthrough having a "Super Packmule" companion becoming available at level 15 ( + 430 carry weight!), as well as an additional robot armored and augmented raider faction to contend with in the commonwealth.

It will also be nice to put up a beacon, get one settler that I instantly assign to Provisioner, and then seconds later after I have my whole stack of resources available, built a robot crafting station and build bot guards for the latest settlement as I await more human and ghoul settlers. Though I haven't tried it yet it's likely you could also bring a custom bot companion and once you get access to the workbench, you could instantly assign that bot to be a provisiover.

I assume level 15 since the thread on the DLC said to use a save that was at least level 15.

I am slowly replacing all my humans with robots. People are worried so I created high paying/skilled jobs as store merchants.

The content is actually a lot, people who played it for 1 hour after downloading it have invalid opinions, you don't watch the first 15% of a movie then go on their boards and start posting negative reviews, well, maybe you do.

Meh after playing it I'd say it's value is around the 5 euro mark. If you have the season pass it's decent value tho. On the other hand if you don't and you don't particularly care about robot customization, I wouldn't bother.

+1 Intelligence Goggles? I assume you mean Road Goggles which are available in the base game.

All opinions count.

Here's one: It's not worth a penny. Not a single one.

I got it. Yep, it was included with the Pay&Pray that is somehow referred to as a Season Pass by every money-grubbing Marketing & Sales team out there.

(The suits really should consider new buzzwords instead of simply copying some other boardrooms failure).

Robots. yay. Overpowered & useless for my game.

A new gun. yay. I'll never use it.

I did read everyone's input. ty for those.

Also read (with a grain of salt, or five) the persistent apologists & fanboiz gavel-pounding objections in an attempt to see their side, --to no avail.

Conclusion: Automagookie is something I would have never bought on it's own; nor would i have downloaded it for free.

After putting the game down going on three weeks ago, I'd already logged well into the 1500 hours mark.

I felt that the hardcoe mode would make it interesting again... and now, I'm doubting that will help either, might have to wait a full year to get back into it, who knows.

SO, here's to secretly wishing they would pull a few people from this mess and assign them over to the Skyrim HD port-team.

zZzZzzz hrmm whzzat? Skyrim Season Pass? Where do i sign up? mmble zZzZzZzzz

I enjoyed Automatron.

I bought the season pass when it was terrific value and will reap the rewards through the year...

Rather see a Morrowind Remastered edition rather than a Skyrim HD version. Skyrim has only been out for 4 years while Morrowind has been out for almost 14 years. Although, if I have to choose between Morrowind Remastered and Elder Scrolls 6, then I would have to pick Elder Scrolls 6.

This DLC is worth skipping that trip to 7-11 quit complaining about the price because that's not even an issue. You probably didn't buy the season pass and now your going to spend every single DLC release complaining about the price tag because you didn't take advantage when Bethesda was trying to hook you up

Well this is where the value is lost on you. For many the robot customization has completely changed the way they approach the game. That's not say your opinion is invalid, but many simply won't agree with you. I'm going to get my money's worth out of this DLC because I enjoy exploring, looting and tinkering. I can't wait to get my mitts on survival mode and build fully automated farms and supply lines. Of course that's just me.
