If AutoMatron is our ideal $10 DLC I'm nervous....

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2016 2:16 pm

Hey, this DLC added a tough new roaming enemy faction that gives the BoS a run for their money in terms of raw power and I get limitless robot companions of my own design and a great looking new sword weapon. Easily worth $10.

I was promised robot customization and I got robot customization, a new quest line, new weapons and armor that doesn't jank up the balance of the game (no mean feat considering historically, DLC equipment has always trumped base game equipment in terms of power), a new enemy type to fight, and a new companion.

Oh and new assets to utilize with the GECK when it's released.

Considering I'm used to shelling out $5 for cosmetic portraits and units in Crusader Kings II, all in all I think Automatron is decently priced for what was never touted as being anything other then "Build A Bot". Makes me interested to see what other goodies ship with the next DLC, that is touted as being "Cage Wasteland critters and fight/stuff them".

I'll glady provide proof I got the season pass.

As I said before it's what Bethesda said it will be and it's a fun 2 hours.

Skyrim came out on 11-11-11, so on 11-11-16, it will have been out six years.

I look at the DLC like I paid $60 for all of them, so I'll reserve judgment until all the DLC is out in terms of content.

Personally I really like the DLC so far, looking forward to more.

Omg lol you already ruined it for yourself by rushing through it so fast.

I got at least 5-10 hours of the quest at level 30ish on very hard. It was challenging and the robot customization is 100x better than any other companion right now. It replaced dogmeat in a heartbeat for companion.

Worth more than 10$ especially if you got the pass early lol.

Very excited for workshop stuff coming and personally as I am waiting for that itll be worth more than 10$ for me. Far Harbour is supposed to be the lagest dlc area they claim and with how/what has been delivered yet im not worried at all..

Don't complain when you rushed the content, it was a smallish dlc that added more customization, more enemies/faction, and the tiny questline that most of us knew wasn't going to be long anyways. Also got a pretty cool new base to customize

People seem to be overlooking the fact that they raised the price because they have more big DLC like Far Harbor planned. This is just a min-dlc..

It's hard to complain about a $10 price tag for a dlc which actually adds something to a game when there are other, bigger game companies out there charging you real money to simply buy in game money. Beth could totally be doing that. $10 for 100,000 caps.. and idiots would buy it. But they aren't doing it.. so just be thankful for that and move on.

I can't really complain about the price seeing as one the last day the season pass was priced at $30 I bought it knowing they were going to jack up the price, I just figured well if there upping the price then I'm getting one heck of a deal. So yeah the DLC didn't have much to a story, but I wasn't hold much on these first 2 DLC anyways seeing as I was only ever under the impression that they were small settlement type DLC's anyways, which to me is fine, I like the settlement part of the game anyways, its kept me distracted long enough to avoid most of they main storyline. I'm level 80 playing on very hard and I've beaten this DLC before I've even really touched the main story of they game and with another settlement DLC to come before the real big DLC, I can make what they gave me last.

Okay, let me rephrase what I said since you did not clearly read what I said. Skyrim came out on November 11, 2011(11-11-11). On November 11, 2016(11-11-16) it will be EXACTLY six years since Skyrim was first released.

Well its generally believed that 1 dollar per hour of fun is fair(anything above that is creators being really nice people) so if this DLC doesnt give you solid 10 hours of fun its not worth the money.

EDIT: By comparison Witcher 3 hearts of stone expansion has same price as this DLC and have 10+ hours of play(most people have 15+ hours on it) with great story.

Maybe don't use a lvl70 character and stop playing it on easy. I started a new one just before it came out.

My only gripe is the robot companion can make things too easy once he starts getting upgrades.

The DLC was worth it. Considering this was supposed to be one of the smallest DLC i am very optimistic. If we got as many new weapons and armor from this, I imagine far harbor and what ever follows will have at least twice as much. Add to it all the weapon mod customization we get with them.

I was skeptical of the mod system in that it left us with too few base weapons. But now I am thinking that it was a stroke of genius.

Hopefully wasteland workshop will add some more melee weapons. It would make sense, since one of the main features is a fighting arena.

To me, it's been worth it so far. I started a new character recently, so it's taking longer as I'm at a lower level and getting pasted just getting to the story way points.

Besides, I look at it this way.

£10/$10 or equivalent in relevant currency for a neat little story, new armors, the ability to build and customize robots and some other little bits.

A lot of other games charge you the same for two little maps, one slightly bigger one, a couple of ultimately useless skins or a weapon thats just a re-skinned version of an existing one with a different flashlight on it.

I did read what you said. But when I went to school they taught us arithmetic rather than wasting our time indoctrinating us on our supposed need to 'check our privilege' and stuff. As a result, people of my generation will immediately recognize that six years after 2011 would be 2017, not 2016. In November it will be five years since the release of Skyrim, not six.

Robot workshop which changes many current elements of the game, new weapons, new armor (including power armor), and a totally fun quest.

The horror.

I'll compare it to what I have experienced with other games. $10, playing Final Fantasy online, you could rip right through that with buying dyes or new hairstyles, barely any content. The CoD games from what I remember when the started their micro-transactions you could buy gun camos for about $1 each, 10 down, not much content. $10 here, get some quests, new locations, and a bunch of things to create, good. I don't have much time to play due to real life commitments, but I'm on day 3 since I had it and I'm still not done the quests for this yet, so I'm content.

Of course though another way I look at $10. Go to work, punch in, hit the head, read some ridiculous comments on here, $10 in my pocket.

No kidding. This has been one of the more entertaining threads this week imo. Or maybe my job is just that boring.

In one hand I think season passes are a terrible practice, and people who buy them deserve their buyers remorse for being impatient and impulsive. On the other automotron was a good DLC.

One year after Skyrims release would be 11-11-12

Two years would be 11-11-13

Three 11-11-14

Four 11-11-15

Five 11-11-16

2011+5=2016

Really? For $10, we got more than enough content imo. I've spend $10 on much, much, MUCH less. Robot customization (pretty darn deep customization as well), new weapons, new quests, new armor, new enemies, new dialogue, new settlement, new dungeons.

Id say that's a bit more than just a quest & some customization.

Don't complain for the sake of complaining, it's not a good habit!
