Im not sure if it was RobCo Certified for NV or if it was some other mod that had the same thing going on but a lot of the concepts im seeing here are pulled from the implementation I saw in that one New Vegas mod, more so than its Fallout 3 incarnation.

Of course stuff is cranked up to 11 as you said, and in my limited browsing of the Fallout 4 nexus I think I saw a mod that is pretty much the same thing, but I love to see things like this given the DLC treatment. I am sure a lot of us can remember Build Your Own Home for Skyrim and how Hearthfire was just that mod but with the extra development and integration into the base game that comes with having the devs work on it with full access to everything as opposed to modders.

Bethesda once again giving the shaft to their costumers. I don't want to wait a week, why isn't Automatron out NOW?

You could always build your own cryogenic unit. I built mine back in the New Vegas days to bypass the waiting, and I think they went mainstream during the Skyrim hype explosion of 2011. :P

Yeah, not sure what to make of that. If I get 8 of them can I get a free duffel bag?

edit: Movie reference, and to expand on that, how many of us would look up the names of the eight people and reuse them for the heads?

Love that old-style Sci-Fi vibe. Can't decide whether to wait for the Survival Mode and start a new character with this DLC or continue with my current character. I'm kind of burn-out on the game right now so waiting for the Survival Mode may not be a bad idea

Wow, this looks absolutely fantastic! I wonder if that robot building station would fit in the back room of the Starlight Drive-In screen? I can't wait to start designing my own bot! I guess I have as week to max out Blacksmith, Armorer, and the rest of the modding perks!

I'm pretty sure the mod was at least partially inspired by Robco Certified. In fact, I suspect we won't hear TalkieToaster weigh in on the DLC because I'm willing to bet he's under NDA. I'd be really surprised if the author of Robco wasn't offered the chance to beta test this even if he didn't sign up. :)

I don't think modders could make Automatron, even if they had the GECK, modders don't have access to the base code and game engine so they are still limited to what they can do. There are so many mods that have been done over the years that I don't think there's anything Bethesda can release that hasn't been previously thought of by mods. I don't think Bethesda bases its DLCs on popular mods, the Automatron DLC was likely being worked on before or as soon as Fallout 4 was released. This whole set of 3 DLCs were begun before Fallout 4's release I'm betting.

How do we know it's an alien blaster and not the Assaultron Laser-Kill-Beam?

No, pretty much accepted its carrying around a severed head to use as a weapon. It just strikes me as odd.

Looks pretty dope, way better than I thought it would be. I hope there is a Silver Shroud connection somewhere despite this being The Mechanist from Fallout 3.

Yea as https://bethesda.net/data/images/event/88/Fallout4_DLC_Automatron02.png clearly looks similar to https://bethesda.net/data/images/event/88/Fallout4_DLC_Automatron04.png with some tweaks but definitely is an assaultron head beam. But i think it looks more similar in design to the lorenzo artifact / gamma gun we get lol

Why do I have to log in to prove my age to watch this video? I didn't have to provide proof of age when I bought the game.

You know, Google. I can't even download Fallout Shelter because I'm not in the mood to give them my telephone #. Umm, Bethesda, you should do something about that.

Anyhoo, think someone provided a link to the trailer on the first page for a non login/"age verification" give away your whole birthday/SS#/telephone/scam to Google... I mean Youtube account.

Nooo! It's too insane looking! Those robots with their jaggedy jiggity sharp bits and angles. Who built these monstrous structures of deranged dementedness? AGH! Where is my mind at? I see it run from me in pure terror of this being of the illogical.

But seriously :D It's a wonderful work of mechanical artistry full of cutting saws and whirring menace like some nightmare paradise birthing from the Battletech and Warhammer 40,000 universes fused and magnified into fabulous Fallout 4 escapist fantasy.
