When I am in-game, the autosave updates fine, shows my current character, etc.

However, upon exiting the game, and restarting it, the autosave feature reverts to an old, deleted autosave file from my 1st character. The original autosave file evidently does not delete, then over-writes the current autosave when the game is launched again.

Mine has been doing that too... anthough I've only created one character. During play, the autosave updates accordingly, but when I exit and restart, the autosave reverts to a save point just over 6 hours in. I haven't tried deleting the autosave file yet.

Try to disable Steam Cloud.

You can work around it by manually saving to a brand new save slot through the "Save Game" function, but it's a giant pain in the butt to do that, especially when you have realism enabled like I do.

Yep, This is the same problem I'm having. I have a Quick Save and Autosave right outside the Strip at level 13.... This was around the time of the update for me. The game will always continue to these saves. I tried deleting the Quicksave and Autosave in "My Games\FalloutNV" but will still revert the files back. Also, I can use a new Quicksave as long as the game stays running though, but reverts back on exit of the game.
